Re: Random Thoughts Of a Cultural And Political Nature
I know that "free bleeding" has become a "thing" in some feminist circles, but what the ENTIRE French toast breakfast?

Re: Random Thoughts Of a Cultural And Political Nature
^Just stupid and much ado about nothing. This so called "free bleeding" is impractical and unhygienic. Are women supposed to ruin their clothing for a week and possibly stain every chair they sit in? Let's not forget the odor or the fact that menstrual flow contains tissue and solids.

Re: Random Thoughts Of a Cultural And Political Nature
The free bleeding thing is just disgusting. Yes, menstruation is natural, and a totally organic part of our life, so is poop, pee and mucus, do we just not clean those up either. Ew... What's so wrong with wearing a pad? Isnt' that free bleeding enough? Sorry - I just dont get it.

Re: Random Thoughts Of a Cultural And Political Nature
Glad I got a Divacup. I agree with what she says about accepting our bodies for what they do and what they look like, but this is unnecessary. Menstrual cups have made me much more accepting of my period, reduced my dread and "ew" factor about it, and taught me more about my body, but why should we go messing up car seats and restaurant chairs? Just to make a showing to prove to other people that we embrace our periods? I dont really need anyone else to accept it, except maybe my partner.
I get that we have cultural ideas about how periods are icky and we don't like to talk about them-in many cases not wanting to talk to our daughters and little sister about it because we feel embarassment. "free bleeding" is a different thing. That said, if she really feels better about herself after doing this, then great. Just don't expect to start a trend.Last edited by Ororo; 08-12-2015 at 02:35 AM.
