Default Extreme Dryness after Herbatint, any homemade solutions?

I dyed my hair with Herbatint a month ago. I have used this dye before without an issue. I am not certain if it was old or what.? I was hoping to get some insight. I was using Aubrey's HSR and just oils but it was building up on my scalp, I migrated to alma oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, with not much relief. Shea butter which my hair loves seems to also buildup on my scalp.

    Any suggestions appreciated thanks!

Hi. Perhaps you could try hot oil treatments and\or steam while deep conditioning. It sounds as if you need cuticle repair. I don't know a lot about repairing so I won't try to answer that. You will need advice from a colorist or a person familiar with such an issue.

I'm not familiar with the product you used to dye your hair. Either way, Onnica gave you some pretty good advice. I can't necessarily agree with the hot oil treatments though. Though the hot oil treatment will give your hair and scalp the illusion that it is moisturized, the oil is not actually penetrating the hair follicles...oil and water don't mix.

Thanks for the response ladies. I have found that the oil is not penetrating my scalp. I have tried everything, and I have thought about henna, but fear that will only worsen the situation.

Henna is supposed to dry out the hair. Have you tried the LOC method?
