Going to NOLA for New Year's

I'll be there Dec 27-Jan 2 and my daytime activities are pretty much already planned out : walking tours, eating, bookshops, voodoo museum, eating and more eating

I'll be staying in the FQ because I wanted to be able to hang out close to home base after dark.

How safe is FQ after dark?

Although I dont have New Year's eve plans I was thinking about just going it solo at a bar/restaurant in the FQ.
