Loc Brushing
Does anyone brush their locs? What are the benefits and do you recommend It? I am reading that brushing your locs can be very beneficial for several reasons. One being ridding the locs of surface lint and debrie before shampooing. For mature locs of 1-1\2 years. Let's discuss it. Peace and Blessings.

When I had locs, I used to brush them exactly for the reason you stated. I personally had no problems with loc brushing. When I semi-free formed, I brushed to make my locs to keep the fuzz and new growth in check

@shell98 Thank you. I will try it then. I use a baby brush on my hairline to keep it neat between re-tights. I don't have a lint problem that I kno of yet but this sounds like a good way to prevent a future problem. Peace and Blessings.

I did when my first set of locs matured.
-increased circulation to my scalp
-lubricated my loss with the natural oils from my scalp
-remove lint/debris
It's wonderful!
But not advised with immature loss that are forming (I would never do it right now with my baby loss)….it disturbs the process.Last edited by KnottyAuthor; 11-06-2013 at 12:27 AM.

@KnottyAuthor Yes. I'm looking forward to that three year mark. I'm trying to be very careful with my locs until then. I may wait another year before brushing. Been rolling it over in my mind and it may be wise to wait. Besides I don't have a lint issue and I don't have a frizz issue either. In my initial post I said 1 1\2 years but I meant as far as it supposedly being safe to brush. I should not have used the word mature. That could mislead newbies. (LOL) Anyhoo, thank you ladies. Peace and Blessings.

I don't. I only brush the hair around my forehead when I have my hair up.
