^^^Aw, no! You can't leave us!
Glad you're going to drop by though. I was tempted to join one of the other challenges, but I don't wanna be too ambitious :P LOL
I like hearing about other's experiences with their regimens and stuff, but I need to stop questioning my own. If it works for me, I need to keep doing it. I was reading on different forum about ladies saying bunning damages their ends or breaks their hair off...esp the sock bun/donut (my fave)
That hairstyle is the TRUTH for me as far as retaining length. Ouchless bands do not break my hair off. And I have wrapped my donut in satin so....
I had an epiphany last night as far as my regimen.
I can't bun unless my hair is stretched, (at this point). So I need to keep it that way, while minimizing tangles and manipulation. I don't want to braid my hair every night. So...
During the day, I'll wear a mid-high or low bun like I always do. Changing up whether it's smack in the middle, or on the side, etc... But at night, I will take that down and do light finger combing on dry hair and put my hair into a high bun towards my forehead. I will spray leave-in on the hair before I bun it. It's kind of like pineappling. That way my ends are protected all day, and all night! It's not tight at all! And I can sleep in any position without discomfort!
I can co-wash once a week, I guess.Last edited by CoilyHairedBeauty; 01-14-2014 at 05:34 PM.

Slight update: I don't think I'll be doing buns on stretched hair anymore. My hair stays moisturized better in its natural state. So I guess I'll be doing wet/damp buns as my main protective style.
This hair here. I seriously thought I couldn't do a top knot on shrunken hair. Well, I was proven wrong. It's small, but it's mine!

Thanks @Astone and @amourese for the recs
Twists and buns seem to be my go to protective styles although it takes forever to get the bun to look the way I want them to
Twists all last week , buns this week on stretched hair and hopefully a cowash and deep condition/protein treatment this Saturday

Sorry for sideway image! Pic was taken last month. Had a small set back the week before last. I detangled and washed which was ok but then used creme of nature intense conditioning treatment which tangled and knotted my hair so bad that even following up with a moisturizing condish didn't help! It was so bad I had to comb the knots out (I am on a no comb challenge btw). Needless to say that conditioner is in the garbage.Yet another natural hair journey...

Welcome to the challenge shell98
Update: twists are a good protective style, but the aftermath of the twists are doing a bit more harm than good. Sooo I'll just continue doing buns to grow my hair and I wash it more when it's out than when twisted

I would like to join. I am pretty close to BSL if looking at the hair closest to my neck. But the hair at my crown is somewhere between SL and APL. Plus I am hoping for BSL unstretched. I will try and post a pic on my next wash/detangle day (sometime this weekend)

Update:
The back of my hair is full armpit length.
The sides are grazing apl.
The front (bangs) is about collar bone length.
...whaaaaaat?!
ETA: Can I claim APL?
Like many, I have layers, and have always measured length milestones with the lowest layer. For SL, I did make sure the sides were actually touching my shoulders before I claimed it.Last edited by CoilyHairedBeauty; 03-17-2014 at 03:31 AM.

I'm back in here, my hair is the same length as my previous length-check picture. I have been having a truckload of setbacks, perhaps this will help me stay focused.
