Mid-Back Length Challenge
Hello,
Anybody want to join me for a MBL challenge? Let's grow together, challenge ends on the 31st of December 2014.
Please post your regimen, your tentative plan for the challenge and a starter length check as well as any additional information you may wish to share.
My Plan
Right now my hair is in large box braids with two flat twists along my hairline. I aim to keep this style until the end of February after which I shall give my hair a week long rest period with a completely different style, followed by another two month long hair style and over and over until July, where I will do a length check to see if I've made any progress.
Here is my photo bucket with my current length: http://s1368.photobucket.com/user/My...?sort=3&page=0
I will upload another set of pictures in July when I do my length check, hopefully by then I'll have reached BSL. My hair is 4c, it's dyed black using a henna dye, it's dense but my strands are quite thin thus it tangles and breaks very easily.
Most days I cover it up with a scarf, between the scarf and my hair is a satin cap that I almost always have on. I try to mist my hair with water on a daily basis and wash weekly to biweekly depending on what I'm doing.
Let's grow together!

I'm in!
I'm using an old version of forum runner, so it won't let me post pics...
I'm exactly at BSL. My hair is layered. I have coily, HIGH SHRINKAGE virgin hair. Normal porosity, density, and strand size. No issues...
STYLES:
Buns, braids, wash & go's
I co-wash several times a week. I do the usual stuff (LOC Method). As needed, I shampoo.
I finger comb 99% of the time, but I do use a Denman when I want.
My braid extensions will stay in 5-7 weeks and will be co-washed and moisturized regularly. If I'm bunning, it'll probably be wet/damp buns using a sock bun ring. Will take it out each evening.
The WnG's are a semi-protective style that gives me a break when I miss my hair. I guess I should wear them no more than twice a week, if I'm serious. I've gotten used to wearing them daily....Last edited by CoilyHairedBeauty; 05-19-2014 at 04:18 AM.

I have half colored hair that is almost BSL, it was BSL until I cut it in December 2013. I have kinky-curly hair that has a visible curl pattern but is frizzy and has nap tendencies.
I've been bunning and I may get some braids going for 6-8 weeks.
I co-wash and shampoo wash on alternating weeks. I use a shampoo for my scalp issues so that's unavoidable.
I may even do the most and take hairfinity.
I switched back to a paddle brush from a denman after two years because it has more give for my hair.
Protein treatment every 6 weeks as well because my hair is colored and that will hopefully help with breakage.

Alright, it's time to step my game up. Sept 12 will make exactly 3 years since my second bc.
I want to protective style consistently for 2 months until that date. Then I get weekly passes to wear my hair loose.
Braiding my own hair with extensions myself has been fun....But I don't think I can do it anymore. Hair is too long (and seems too thick) for that. Plus I take it out too quickly anyway. I'm tired of doing it for hours over the course of a couple of days.
So...that leaves buns. Or mini twists (natural hair). Maybe I could do feed-in cornrows. French braid(s) (inverted)"Authenticity is true beauty."

^ there is always next year
we should merge all the length retention challenges into one thread for 2015, they only get a couple of participants in each from what i can see...----------It is not the eyes that are blind, but the hearts - Quran 22:46 ----------

Re: Mid-Back Length Challenge
I found out that most of my hair from the middle of the crown down are nearing mid-back. The hair around my face is shoulder length.
I didn't know...I don't use heat...and besides the shrinkage is massive. I know that the longer it's gotten, the more time I'm spending detangling, which I hate (fine hair, but lots of it).
