Why wash your hair in the sink?

It's funny, but I was raised with the notion that hair and food must never be mixed. There was a strong rule that you should never do your hair in the kitchen. I think it comes from the gross factor of finding a hair in your food. As kids, We bent over the bathtub and my mother used the hose, and today, I basically do the same to wash my son's locs and if I don't feel like getting wet a couple of times while deep conditioning I stand outside the shower stall and use the detachable hose.

I grew up having my hair washed in the sink. I don't know why my mother did it that way, she just did. I guess it was easier for her, but washing my hair in the sink eventually took a toll and when I left home, she was probably relieved. I stopped washing my hair in the sink once I went natural though. It's just easier to wash my hair in the shower.
