Did you keep your first set of locs?
So I was going through my closet today, cleaning up my room and such, and happened upon a plastic bag with my first set of locs inside. I forgot I had them. I cut my first set off back in 2011 because I was never happy with how they were started (poor parting and sizing). Anyways I am still a loc-head now, but I always thought it would be cool to one day show my kids my first set of locs.
Its just such a journey and learning process (especially the first time you do it), that I didnt want to just throw them out. For me, its similar to when parents keep their child's first hair cut.
So have you kept your first set of locs?

Re: Did you keep your first set of locs?
Yes, I have kept my first set of locs. They're presently sitting and lying on my head. As of right now, I've no plans to cut them off. Don't think I ever will. My parting and sizing are questionable but I knew that when I started. Locs started by me and never maintained by anybody else but me. I'm good.

Re: Did you keep your first set of locs?
I didnt start or maintain my first set myself. Plus I didnt really pay good attention to how they were started.
My second and current set I had my old hairdresser start. Once she started them, I took it upon myself to maintain them. Now I wash and twist my own hair and have become quite good at it. I only use a hairdresser now when I want styles done, or need a good trim.

Yes…and no.
I took my locks down, so I kept my hair. It took 4 mos. I was miserable, but I did not cut them off.

Re: Did you keep your first set of locs?
I thought about it...for maybe five minutes. Then I took a picture of them before putting them in a plastic grocery bag and tossing them in the trash can.
Hello, 2021. Glad to see you. Hope you're bringing us goodness and light this year!

Re: Did you keep your first set of locs?
Nah. I cut them off like the New Year in 2011. I started my second set in April of 2012. My first set were latched and I wasn't exactly in love with them. I started my first set from microtwist that I put in for Pride weekend that year and they were too small -- which resulted in a series of combining sessions.
My first set of locs feel like they were a part of a completely different stage of my life; it's so crazy when I think about it. I have my second set that are part of a completely different part of my life. My second set are semi-freeform. It's weird because people don't think that I maintain them at all but I do twist them like every 4 or 5 months.
I love how this set looks and feels. Most of my compliments and questions end up being from guys though -- most women just look at my hair like, . But anyways - nope I don't have my first set saved away somewhere.
Locs 2nd Set: April 3rd 2012 - Yup they're back

Re: Did you keep your first set of locs?
I started my locks with small twists at first, but after about a month, I had them restarted with braids. The reason I did this is because my roots were meshing way too much. Four years later I still have my "second" set of locks. I really consider these my first set though because I didn't have the others for long at all.

Re: Did you keep your first set of locs?
No I did not. I took my braid locks down, they were not small enough. I'm getting sisterlocks installed this week.
