When you first start out, you gain strength so quickly, so it's motivating to keep moving up in weight or reps.

I also do mixed martial arts basics classes and hope I graduate from them to jiu jitsu classes before new year.
I'm no heavy lifter just yet lol. But I will def come check out the thread

I joined one of these new 24 hour cheap gyms recently, it opens this month. I need to get back on a schedule. I still need to lose 28 lbs/12kg/2 stones in mass. Its been difficult coming home late from work after a 2 hour commute, missing the exercise classes and being mentally tired. I think winter turns our psyches 'into reserve energy at all costs' mode. I was more up for it in the summer.

Halloween through New Years is my gain phase. I plan on eating, so I'll probably increase my routine an extra day or two and/or hour. Currently I'm in maintenance mode with 2 Zumba classes and 90 min. weight training twice a week. I purchased fitted clothes as a guide. If my clothes fit tight, I add extra time.

Right now I'm doing two days a week HIIT then I'll join our local BGR ladies once a week, when I'm consistent with that for a couple months I'll add on....I had one plate for thankgiving and one dessert. I find myself not gorging like I used to, no "clean plates" here as I'm often full before my plate is empty. Listening to my body has been of the highlights of this year. Watching how it reacts to different foods has been very humbling, very humbling!

^^Ditto on listening to the body. I eat more mindfully now, and find myself not cleaning my plate sometimes. 5-6 years ago, I ate much more than I do now and I always cleaned my plate, often eating to the point of being too full and just plain uncomfortable.

I'm trying to ease into more activity. Now, I'm doing two days a week of heavy lifts and 2x a week of MMA Basics. Next week I'll be moving on to Brazilian jiu jitsu classes (2x a week) and lifting maybe 3 days (2 days of 2-3 lifts and 1 day of squatting). Plus, I really want to play roller derby again-maybe starting in the new year. I don't know if I'll be able to keep up all this activity.

Ha! I ran on Christmas day! That is such an accomplishment for me! Now, I just need to keep to a 3x a week schedule.

    Woot! Good for you AN!!!!

I've been transforming via Yoga (Hatha, Vinyasana, Bikram) like a mad woman over the holidays. Due to stress, travel, etc., I have not wanted to stress myself out with much cardio. I need the slow/warm/release and it's making a difference! At the most, I'll complement my practice with walking. That's been enough, and clothes are getting looser. I'm eating what I want, just not until full and uncomfortable…in some cases seeing my 6's drop to an XS or 4, shocked bc I'm only interested in maintaining, not lose.

I hope you all are well, happy and whole! Namaste!

Good for you AuNap. I've totally fallen off the workout wagon over the past two weeks. I felt powerless against the forces that were causing me to stress eat. Happy to say that my family dodged a major health issue with my mom. We took her to the hospital for what seemed to be an extremely high blood pressure reading several weeks ago. She also had a horrible persistent hacking cough. They did a CT scan and came back and told us they saw a mass and thought she had lung cancer. She had a biopsy CHRISTmas eve and we got the results back yesterday. SHE DOES NOT HAVE LUNG CANCER. Praise God! While we were waiting for the results, I kinda shut down.Didn't want to do anything that would take time away from her. So I stopped going to the gym. Plus, I'm taking the bus to get around and it's ridiculously freaking cold outside so I didn't even WANT to get off the bus to go to the Y after work and then walk six blocks home after my workout.

It's still colder than HECK outside but I gotta make myself go. I don't wanna big a big fat whale when spring rolls around. UGGGHHH!!!

I think I'm going to find me a spring race to sign up for. That way I'll have incentive and motivation to keep moving throughout the winter.
