    Question thinning Mature locs

    Hello all,

I am in need of a few pointers, I have 10.5 year old mature locs and I have noticed some thinning in my crown, I know it could be medication that has been thinning it out, due to me being on constant meds for the last 3 years. But I am off a certain drug that is known to make your hair thin now and I want to know how I go about repairing my locs without cutting them and starting over. I started taking biotin and I treat my scalp with Jamaican black castor oil, I do not color my hair and I do apply conditioning treatment weekly. I do not twist my hair but once every 4-6 months. Is there anything I can wrap around the roots of my hair, or should I just combine them and start on a new hair journey. All information is helpful, as I do not want to cut my hair.

I can definitely understand not wanting to cut them! A few years ago mine were thinning out a lot. I was concerned and went to see an African American dermatologist and a Loctician with years of experience. It helped to have someone examining my whole head and giving their opinion. In my case, the weight of my locs had a lot to do with it, so it gave me some choices. HTH

Maybe you can cut them shorter and combine the roots.
I've noticed that a number of people with mature locks have thinning at the roots.
I lost many locks due to aging, genetics and medication.
I wish you the best with this situation.
