Whew, I'm horrible at keeping up with rules nowadays. Approaching 9 years with locs and have been free forming a good solid 5 of those. I tend not to wrap my hair up at night and wake up with it wrapped around my arms, underneath my back - struggling not to tug at them too hard while trying to hop out of bed. I also use creamy conditioners at times - which of course requires me to do ACV rinses regularly.

Ever since I cut my hair short I've done the following:

    - Stopped sleeping on a satin pillowcase. If I remember, I'll put a satin bonnet on but I really don't think too much about it anymore.
    - Stopped putting oils in my hair. These days I use a leave-in and, occasionally, some gel.
    - Stopped working in sections. HALLELUJAH! Even when it comes to the gel, I'll just put a healthy pump into my palm, thin it out with some water, and then just scrunch it in.

In the increasingly unlikely event I grow my hair out again, I'm going to do what my friend did and wear extensions for 2 years or until it gets to a length where I can put it into a protective style that hides the ends.
Hello, 2021. Glad to see you. Hope you're bringing us goodness and light this year!

I'll go to sleep on damp locks...i should know better...but schedules don't allow me to always wash in the morning, then set at night. i like to wear this set of locks curly from a braid out. I care/but i don't. So far, I'm ok....but it's getting harder again with more length to have dry locks by the end of the day when it's cold outside and I'm not about to sit under a drier.

Instead of sectioning after washing to let it dry properly I just ring out/shake out as much water as I can, pull it into one damp bun and toss on a headscarf (sometimes I layer scarves so it doesn't soak through).

I wash more than once a week and sometimes I don't deep condition.
