    Practiced my swimming today. Only did 150 yards but concentrated on rolling from side to side instead of swimming flat. Seemed to help my rhythmic breathing...the way I turn my head instead of lifting it to get a breath of air. Then decided to get out of the pool and run a mile. Started out faster than I normally do. Wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone taking Kari's advice to start doing speed drills. Did one mile of speed work taking my pace to a 10-minute mile for one minute. Dayum that really required my fat a$$ to move, lol. Even in my compression wear my booty was jiggling all over the place. Too funny. Exhausting but a really good workout today.

    I'm down almost 6 pounds! Just watching my sugar trying to do as much walking as I can on the weekends....I did have a heart to heart with my boss and told her simply my workouts are PRIORITY so I have a hard stop at 5pm on Mon and Wed and not in until 8am Tues and Thurs. If I can stick to 4 workouts during the week - also when it's the most stressful - the weekends will be gravy, hoping to have a good report next Saturday! As usual the summer months are almost auto-clean eating for me so many fresh veggies and fruits available and comfort food is just too darn heavy and water I drink constantly because of the heat and humidity so it's win-win.

    The good thing is my co-worker and I are trying to limit our sugar and we keep track of each other during the day, he's totally fit but his Dad passed from a diabetic coma so he's concerned so I kinda have a "buddy" to keep me honest which is perfect!

    No workouts to report side lined by crazy toothache since last Sunday. Even a root canal didn't help. Going to a different dentist tomorrow morning.

    I always have anxiety about going yo jiu jitsu class and fear not being able to keep up or understand the techniques, but of course, I never regret going. Class was fun today. Working on getting out of half-guard. Gym tomorrow after doc's appointment.

    So I have to tell y'all about the ridiculous benefits of adding pool workouts to my fitness regimen. Things I can't do on land because my knees are so bad, I can do in the water. Like squats and lunges. Jumping squats. Deep water torso twists. Deep water running. Water planks. All sorts of stuff that have given me back my flexibility and strength on land. Practicle application of the benefits I've reaped from consistent water workouts and swimming include

    *Being able to bend my knees so I can pick up stuff off the floor
    *Reach my feet to put on or tie my shoes*
    *Bend my knees and slowly lower myself onto low toilet seats without plopping down cause I have no knees or leg muscle strength
    *stand on one leg to balance and the lift my my other leg high enough to put my other leg in a pair of pants or underwear
    *the agility to run up and down stairs like a much younger person

    I'm sure I have other examples but I'm sure you get the picture. Although I'm still over 200 pounds and am 54 years old, I no longer move/lumber like I used to. Last night, I went up stairs to get some tape for my mom. Me and my sister's old bedrooms are upstairs but are used for storage now. We don't go up there unless we need something. When I found the tape, I trotted quickly down the stairs and gave it to my mom. And as she says, wow, you ran down the stairs like that? She was amazed and quite frankly I was too lol!

    Toothache or no, I managed to get in a good mile yesterday — 1.33 miles to be exact in 13 minutes. Felt good too...and easy. But I was running on the treadmill at home (something I don't get to do because my mom can't stand the noise of me on the treadmill), but she was not home. I'd taken some antibiotics and pain meds and only stopped when I did cause I started to feel nauseous. Had to come to work today. Hoping it will be cool enough, and I'll feel well enough for an outdoor run.

    Got up early and cooked me some breakfast before I started taking my pain meds for my tooth. Then I hit the streets for a run. Overcast but still humid. Since it's been so humid I am so not focused on time, just endurance.

    This month, I haven't run that much at all. In fact, my Garmin only has four recorded runs. However, as I look at my stats, I'm still making progress with my endurance. On June 6th, I eeked out 3.04 miles and remember that last 1/2 mile felt like HELL. Then the very next day, I managed 3.28 miles. On June 13th I found the strength to run 4 non stop miles. Today, I had no expectations since I'm all drugged up, lol. Just felt I needed to get something in. After about 8 minutes of running, I checked my Garmin, and it was getting ready to go into sleep mode or something. Uggghhh. Had to restart it. Disappointed cause I felt like I had a really good start. But from that point I did 4.13 miles. But what ever is going on, my endurance is coming along great! If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say I did a little more than 4.5 non stop miles. I'm really getting close to my 10k goal. So excited, lol!

    Was telling one of my besties about my accomplishments. She's always so encouraging. She wants me to come and run her favorite walking trail that is three miles around. She'll walk and I'll run. Gonna do it next Saturday morning, early before it gets too hot. Hopefully I can get one run in before then.
