The pictures of her as a pale, blonde, straight, fine/thin haired youngster, leaves no room for doubt. Her Caucasian parents also look total white an claim to be just that.

BTW, for those of you who wanted to know....

"Because you're you and I'm here, I'll tell you. If I'm at the grocery store or anywhere else I'd be like, 'none of your business; back off,' " she said. "This is a weave, and I do it myself."

^I guess. In the beginning, I was not totally convinced just because her parents were saying it. You know what they say, Mamma's Baby Poppa's Maybe! I was thinking that he might think she's his daughter or that both knew and did not want it publicized. Then the fact that a lot of biracial people of black and white heritage and light complected black people tend to 'darken' as they get older, had me like, hmmmmm (?). I was not convinced that she was not white, nor was I convinced that she was not of African heritage either. However, I regress, the change is too dominant. Who knows? She may be doing what some man did in the 50s to see what it was like to be black and then he wrote the book Black Like Me. Maybe that's her angle.

YASSSS!!! She is the textbook pathological liar. She's told her lies for so long that she actually believes they are the truth.

No matter what wrong, foul or vile thing a white person does, there will always, ALWAYS, be some Uncle Ruckus type that will cape for said white person. Now THAT'S a pathology that runs DEEP.

Wandering in to say "yes" to all of this.

I just can't with this whole story. It's not trans-racial, whatever the hell that is. She went to an HBCU and, while an ally, she realized it's pretty hard to earn cred, so she started lying. She picked up details from our culture and was able to benefit from those lies. Now she just insists on keeping this going.

    #iCant with her. I just can't.

Also trans racialism implies that it could work the other way around and of course it never could for those of us who cannot visually pass. She was able to make something work because she can make herself look like a fair skinned black person. Someone who looks like me can never look like a white person therefore I can never "trans" into that race no matter what I think about myself on the inside. Based on what she said about her background (before the jig was up) she and I have the same background. I am African, Native American & European according to a couple of DNA tests. However people that look like me will never be able to walk around talking about "I'm white" no matter what percentage of whiteness I may actually have in my heritage.

I'm just not with her. I'm not here for any form of cultural appropriation and playing black like every day is Halloween just... I can't. She infiltrated a black think tank group that I belong to on Facebook. So I've actually had some level of dialogue with her and I was probably amongst the first to know when this whole thing was starting to blow up. Looking back at her posts now, the way she was talking TO ACTUAL BLACK PEOPLE as if she were a black person...Her pathology runs deep.

One positive with the tragedy in Charleston is pushing this story off the media radar. I realize it brought some deep questions about racial hierarchy, cultural appropriations, racial cosplay etc but at the end of the day, this was, at best, in the bizarro section of newspapers.

Maybe she identifies with and passionate about the African American culture that she conducts herself like she's black because that's where she feels comfortable. I need to research to see if Dolezeal caused any damage posing because my only concern is her contributions. The identity issue is something she needs to resolve within herself.

A media personality, Charlamane, raised an interest point. We're moving to a socially accepted society, recently accepting Caitlynn/Bruce; why can't we accept individuals that choose to be a different race? Folks can switch their gender. Why can't Dolezeal change her race? Personally, one can change whatever they choose... but a zebra can't change it's stripes. So do as one please... you are, what you are.

The misrepresentation is a concern, but I'm analyzing the contributions towards the black culture. Does the good outweigh the bad. There's not too many white folks that will switch their identity and be an activist for black causes.
You just voiced exactly how I feel about this. Don't care about her misrepresentation in the least. So she wants to be black. Just don't care. She identifies with us and our culture and wants to advance our causes. I say cudos to her. Don't even care that she lied about her dad. To me, that's saying that Bill Clinton couldn't be a good president because he was having an affair with Monica Lewinsky. It says something about his character, but not his ability to do a good job. There would be so many people out of a job (especially men and women having affairs). Hell, this country would have to shut the hell down.

The NAACP even said that being black was NOT a prerequisite for getting the job. So what the hell is the big deal here? So what matters most to me and the question to be asked is was she good at her job. The identity crises (if that's what it is) that she is having something she needs to deal with on a personal level.

***shrugs*** I really think we need to move on. To me this is an interesting non issue for sure.
