Personally I think it was a staged "feud" for publicity. When's the last time anybody (celebs or fans) really cared this much about the VMAs? I think the last time the ceremony got this much preemptive attention it was when Limp Bizkit, Eminem, and X-tina Aguilerra were all scheduled to perform on the same night.

Also, Nicki truly was delusionnal to think she deserved to be nominated. Most people would have rolled their eyes or as Kid Fury said, would have agreed with her main argument about the doulbe standards but would still not support her in her demands to be nominated had Swift not joined the fight and gave this story more weight because it no longer was about some rapper having a tantrum anymore. And Taylor Swift took a beating for her replies, I was surprised to see some of her fans say she needed to make this right, she has too much control over her own image to risk it over feminism and racial intersection. Swift obviously will bounce back from this but it will leave a mark, even the New Yorker is taking pot shots at her.
