Shrinkage is this lazy girl's hairstyling method.

I decided to make TWA board on Pinterest and, off course, finding 4C hair on there is like panning for gold.

Trying some new high end conditioners. Bought Matrix Biolage shampoo and conditioner on sale from Ricky's (the large bottles no less). I'd love to try Redken and Purology. Luckily, Ricky's sells those as pairs too (on sale). Also going to try some high end deep conditioners too. Got a nice windfall that's covered my bills for December, so it's self-reward time.

Glad I bit the bullet and spent the hours it took to twist my hair last weekend. Now my challenge is to moisturize regularly - but not too much - and minimize manipulation so that these twists will last at least 2 more weeks.

I have awful hand in hair disease when my hair is in twists. I'm going to try to always wear a satin scarf or bonnet when I'm at home to minimize that. Really want these to last with minimal frizz.

So my barber used an auto sponge to bring out the coils in my hair. I thought it was some kind of magic because I never heard of those (and let me pick my late pass if this has been shown here already) but yup, it works! I won't do this everyday or every week because I'm sure it will damage my hair but I'll keep this method in my toolbox. I didn't cut holes in the sponge but I may that for next time. For products, all I had on my hair was my usual oil/glycerin mix topped with shealow.

PS: As if to prove that if one doesn't have any pattern in their hair, no amount of voodoo with bring them out besides a twist out, I have spot at the very crown that simply doesn't respond to this method.

Fascinating. Yes. Our hair is so fascinating indeed.

My favorite quote comes from Lisa Price in response to the question: "What's your favorite part about being natural, and what's the hardest part?"

"I honestly don't have a hardest part about being natural — I truly don't. I have been like this for so long, and I have found ways to express myself and my style in my hair. I love knowing what it will look like every day, and I love not being beholden to a stylist every time I have to take a picture. For me, it is all the easiest part."

Twists, a year in twists and twist extensions. I'll see if I like it before deciding on locs.

Now's as good a time as any to share....my 3rd and final bc. It was done in November, and is growing out...

I got fed up with breakage in the crown/ middle of my hair. (Which occurred due to laziness)

You know shrinkage...it's longer than it looks...

2016 hair goals: Maintain healthy hair habits, protective styles, and retain as much length as I can.
