Re: Random Loc Thoughts
Soo, decided to cut my locks back to APL - blunt cut not layered. They had reached mid-back. A bit too long for me and I never did anything with them but fling them in a ponytail. Think my personal ideal length may be BSL...

Re: Random Loc Thoughts
I haven't been on this site in YEARS. I HAD two set of locks. I had that set for 5 years, second set I cut off when it was only a year in. Now I'm thinking about starting them over...
just need to decide what method I'm going to use.3.23.10-second set of locks started

Re: Random Loc Thoughts
You sound almost identical to me (haven't been on the site in a long time either!) I had 2 lock sets, first was 6 years and second was a little over a year. Now its about 7 years since I cut off set 2 and I am seriously thinking of starting again. I was thinking of starting with braids and then semi freeform? Kind of over the whole super manicured locs thing but I still want small locs though... I started with two strand for my first set and braids for my second and I like how twists looked a little better but braids held up better to washing. Idk. Decisions, decisions.
Yet another natural hair journey...

Re: Random Loc Thoughts
I'm another person who hasn't been on this site in years (was literally one of the orignals---shout out to anyone reading this who remembers when we use to all hang out on naturallycurly.com and nappyhair.com!!). Anyhow, I had locs for about a year that were started with TSTs, then I cut that set off about 3.5 years ago because I wanted to play in my hair.
Anyhow, I've decided that I'm ready for locs again. I put my hair in small (not micro) braids last weekend. Braids are a better way for me to start considering my lifestyle (I have to wash/rinse my hair a lot). After 15 years of being natural, I think I'm done playing in my hair and actually have the patience to go through the locking process now.Last edited by spacetygrss; 06-11-2016 at 02:29 PM.
Natural for 10 years and still loving it!

Re: Random Loc Thoughts
I have been online looking at pics of locs and I have even viewed a few YouTube videos. I feel a lot like I did when I first went natural, hence my return to Nappturality after such a long time awat. I have noticed that I tend to think a LOT about how my locs will turn out when they're matured and what phases I will go through in order to get there. I have lots of frizz and oddly enough, I think I LIKE it. I see a lot of pictures of super neat locs and I kinda feel like I might have to get over that due to my scalp condition (significant dermatitis and sensitive scalp overall) which does not allow me to do a lot of super tight twisting AND requires that I shampoo at LEAST once weekly. This will be interesting to say the least.

Re: Random Loc Thoughts
Whatever I do with my natural hair, I believe that (for me) locs are the wiser choice.

Re: Random Loc Thoughts
I'm almost giddy excited looking forward to this weekend so I can give my locs a spa day. It's been so long, at least 3 to 4 years since I've done this (shame on me). I can't believe how much I take my locs for granted now, when I was so anxious in the beginning for them to form and grow. It's been almost 8 1/2 years now and I find I get irritated with the length but am still reluctant to cut....at least not until my 10 year mark.
