Loved the Wiz with Stephanie Mills on Broadway BEST, then the movie version with Diana Ross and MJ.....I'll probably tune in, but Mabel King killed that Evilene role both on Broadway and in the movie so I can't see Mary J doing it any justice at all she looks more like a model then a wicked witch....but I'm going in with an open mind....

    ^^

I can't wait to watch it. I'm recording it too. *Gets popcorn ready*

Meanwhile, Nate Parker will debut "Birth of a Nation," his film about Nat Turner, at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Now THIS is a slavery movie I can get with.

Oooooh...this sounds good. I'd watch the hell out of this.

Why the hell is President Obama doing some wilderness man special with Bear Grylls?
NBC just aired this commercial during The Wiz Live. I'm perplexed and intrigued.

It was amazing. Sure it wasn't perfect, but here I am hours after watching it, and I still have a stupid grin on my face.

David Alan Grier was Ah-ma-zing as the cowardly lion. Queen Latifah rocked as the Wiz. It was great to see Staphanie Mills still.has.IT! Mary J will certainly not be getting any bad news when it comes to her performance (too bad her death was a little anti-climactic). Elijah Kelly as scarecrow was awesome with all his riffs! Ne-Yo, even with the funny accent soared! Ain't no body surprised by Amber - stupendous! Uzo Aduba totally surprised me with her voice - lovely, lovely, lovely.

Yep. We did that! If and when it comes out on DVD, I will be purchasing it for posterity.

    I really enjoyed it.

Did I say, I enjoyed it? Cause I sho nuff did!

Whoever runs Prance's Twitter account felt like being messy
They should have let the tweet stand instead of deleting it. Where did that letter come from? Is it legit?

RE: *cough* folks - We didn't complain with the Wizard of Oz, Oz the Great and Powerful, nor Wicked. So have a stadium full of seats.

    RE: The Wiz

I was looking forward to seeing Mary J. and Latifah, and fell asleep on their parts. The highlight: Stephanie Mills. If she could only play Dorothy again. Either I was tired or the play didn't keep me up to see it's entirety. Behind the scenes peeked my interest... example: awesome set. The art/science behind it was intriguing. Next the costuming... beautiful. Third the dancing... Fatima did a great job. David Allan surprised me vocally. He did well, but I was expecting some comedy because the lion is witty. I expected more from Ne-yo. I thought he would have been a better scarecrow than a tin man. IDK who's the scarecrow, but I thought about Michael Jackson. Dorothy did alright for a newcomer. I just think the group voice wasn't strong enough, but that could be a sound issue. It just seems like the others fell flat (less sound) after Stephanie Mills. IDK maybe I was on my way to sleepville.

Disappointments - They couldn't find a dog... a figurine or something. Too many commercials, the pyrotechnics wasn't on point IMO and the scene transitions.

I'll try to see the rest by the weekend.

Auntie Patti and James Wright are going to do a cooking show together on the Cooking Channel.

I gotta admit, Patti is doing this right.

*hangs head in shame about the Walmart shade*

This is working out sooo much better for James. Good for them. I will definitely tune in for the show.
