Default Re: What's the longest you've ever kept your hair in twists?

Two months, I think. I would take the front down when I washed, though, because the texture is less kinky up there and mats and tangles easily when wet. The back could handle multiple washes. I'd just retwist the front and keep it moving. I'd wear the resulting twist-out and morphed shrunken 'fros for another month, resulting in a three-month run.

Have you tried this: Doing your twists, leaving them in, when you wash your hair take down each twists one by one (not every week--maybe every two weeks?), comb thru it, and retwist. Sort of how do if you had locs and were grooming them one by one. I think in this way you would greatly minimize the locing and tangling that you get from leaving them in and just washing them. You will be able to keep them in longer as a protective style without fear of them locking.

    I do what curlyque does

That way you can keep your twists fresh and keave the style in longer. My hair locks really fast so I can't wear twists longer than a week or so without it starting to loc. I'm convinced that locked is my hair's natural state because it gravitates towards locking no matter what I do.

Three weeks is my max especially since I will wash the twist about twice a week. Much more than that and it is a detangling nightmare.
