In Memory of Prance (That's how OHR's mama says it)
I'm still in shock from yesterday's news that we lost His Royal Badness. A hole has been ripped in the music world that cannot be fixed or filled. EVER.
Let's share our favorite Prince songs, moments, memories, whatever... as he lives on in our hearts.
I'll start with my favorite Prince song: Adore.
I will also share that I was blessed to see him in what turned out to be his last concert last week. It was an incredible show! I'm glad I have that memory to hold onto.
More to come later.~Love the hair you have~

I appreciate the man and his music. I was watching the movie Purple Rain and my eyes got watery on the cover song. What captivates me:
1. His eyes - they were a window to his soul.
2. His heart - extremely giving in more ways than one.
3. Style - unique, swag, the fashions... he's like a walking Smithsonian.
4. The music.
There's several songs that I enjoy, but my favorite that always get me moving with a smile: "Baby, I'm A Star."

I was a big fan years ago. He will be missed. I am not sad though because I believe death is freedom.

So The Groove on Sirius XM has been playing Prince music non-stop since the weekend. In addition to being a healing salve for my wrecked soul, it is turning my son into a Prince fan.
There's hope for the next generation yet.

Re: In Memory of Prance (That's how OHR's mama says it)
I think my favorite Prince memory was his appearance on Muppets Tonight
That Muppet Prince makes me giggle every time.
And even though he was shady towards my faves he
1) learned the error of his ways
live cover of "What Have You Done for Me Lately?"
Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough intro to "Cool"
2) Started saving his shade for people that truly deserved it

Re: In Memory of Prance (That's how OHR's mama says it)
Thanks MommieDearest for the title in honor of my Momma!
I was at work when the news came over my news app...seemed my heart stopped for a moment. I couldn't think straight for a few days after...this was one death I have trouble accepting. I remember when I purchased his self-titled album in '79, I played it until the grooves wore down. I'd stare at his picture and wonder...why is he so pretty? lol
What I will remember: Prince seemed not to care very much about how other's viewed him...his geeky, sexy confidence won me over early.
Who was it that referred to him as "my little Polly Pocket man?"

Gurl yes!! I remember buying the "Prince" album one day right after I cashed my paycheck from my after school job. I wore that thing OUT. LOL!!! I cut his picture out of a "Right On" magazine and taped it on my bedroom wall. Right up there with Michael Jackson and Foster Sylvers.
Side note: You know you're of "a certain age" when you remember ALBUMS. As in VINYL. Lawd...
