Default Which Laptop Do You Recommend?

I'm planning to buy an inexpensive laptop ($500 max). In the past, my laptops have been HPs that broke down pretty easily(but I used them a lot). Have you ever bought a reliable laptop that has lasted longer? I thought about a refurbished mac, but I'm wondering if I'm just better off buying a new computer from a different brand. What type of laptop do you recommend for it's reliability?

Good question. I have a netbook that I use on the go but my big clunky gaming laptop needs repairs and probably outright replacement so...I'm looking forward to the responses too.

I got a new laptop a few months ago. An Asus i7. It's amazing. If you need a lot of speed and graphics at a reasonable price, I would definitely look at the Asus range.

I'll definitely look into Asus computers. When I looked up reliable brands online, Asus and Dell came up a lot as good ones.
