    Yay!

I know there are a lot of ways of going about it, but I'm thinking of limiting myself to $100-150 dollars a month on non-needs. I'm finding that I'm spending that in at least a week between uber and eating out. Living this NYC life has be spending frivolously!

Can I join and slightly modify? I'd like to set aside/save $50 every month for 2018.

    Yes of course!

We can all set our own goals and take ideas from each other. I think the thread will be a good place to share ideas and accomplishments.

I had this thought as I was reading this magazine that I spend all of my small salary making other people rich. I spend spend spend, and end up pretty much living pay check to pay check and there isn't a good reason other than self-control and wisdom.

Any frugal/ money saving tips would be wonderful!

My biggest splurge is eating out. So I know I just need to cook to solve that one. But any money saving ideas would be great!

    Truth! Truth! Truth!

When I started my new job about a year ago I wanted to be more conscientious about how I was spending my dollars. I stared to track every dollar but that only lasted a few months. While it did last though, it was great! I saw my habits and was able to design a reasonable budget.

For me there's also a level of social accountability. It's difficult because on the one hand I want the dollars I do spend to support the things I care about, on the other hand is ethical consumerism even possible when I have $5 and Wal-Mart is a block away?

    It's hard.

Cooking helps so much! My eating out isn't necessarily about the food though, it's about the socializing that often comes with it. Finding free (or cheaper) ways to hang out with your people also helps.

I've been looking for a good tracking app that does NOT require access to a bank account and can be shared between 2 or more people, tricky. I do not want to give any app that kind of access. This has been hard. Let me know if you run across something?

Will do! I currently use YNAB but that requires linking banks- which I appreciate because it keeps me honest.

Have you tried Dave Ramsey's Every Dollar? It doesn't require linking.

I just downloaded iSaveMoney a few days ago and so far so good. It also doesn't link but it doesn't do multiple users either

    How are we doing ya'll?

I'm finding that I'm a distracted shopper. I go in for groceries and leave with more paper products/ non-food items than groceries!!

Question, how much do you all set aside for groceries per month/per person ?
