Today I started taking a collagen supplement supposed to help with hair and nails! If I see a difference I will let you know - my temple area was a victim of thyroid medication overdose.

I started taking a powdered collagen supplement with my coffee earlier this year. I didn't see much of a difference but then again I wasn't consistent. What supplement are you using?

About to go back to sealing with good old-fashioned grease (okay, not so old-fashioned: Blue Magic coconut oil grease) so I can get a twistout to last in this dag-blasted humidity...

I'm using Nature's Way Beauty Collagen. It tastes good, so will wait and see if anything changes. Keeping a close eye on hairline, nails and skin... We will see.

Collagen supplement was great! Used two bottles. Saw a difference in my skin but it could be because I am using a new night cream that is the BOMB. I'm going to finish this bottle then stop to see if there are any changes. Still on the night cream though.

I call myself trying to use up products before bringing in new ones but I had two "eff it" moments over the past couple of weeks. One of them screwed my hair up...the other may be helping to restore it, hopefully.

The screw-up: Aztec Secrets bentonite clay
I hadn't done a clay mask in a while so I decided to try it using what I'd always used in the past, which was Aztec Secrets and ACV. Left it on for about 90 minutes, rinsed it out, added my trusty HE HH, left that in, rinsed that out, and styled as normal.

Now I've never truly understood how porosity works but I think I must have messed something up because my hair dried all the way OUT. Like...nothing was responding the way it normally did. That was two shampoos and a co-wash ago and I think my hair MIGHT be returning to normal.

You know the drill: walk into Target planning on getting one thing, leave it with a bag of stuff. Actually I only got one extra thing, and that was this leave-in. I went home, THEN watched a couple of YouTube tutorials that had me rethinking my purchase...but then I said, eff it, let's give it a shot.

Co-washed with the last of my HE Naked cleansing conditioner (I really liked this even though it had a very strong smell; I'm sorry it's discontinued!), then applied the leave-in in sections followed by CRN Aloe Whipped Butter Gel. Put my hair in about 10 twists and air-dried overnight.

Today's 'fro is somewhat sticky, but it's healthier-looking than it's been in a while.

Wait. What is the night cream?

So...I really liked the idea of faux locs, not only for the look, but for the protection they could give my hair. No friction and whatnot.

In a span of...less than a month, I installed crochet locs (cornrows), individual crochet, and traditional wrapped faux locs.

The first 2 came down because it didn’t look natural and seamless enough for my taste. Just finished removing the traditional ones, and am finally heading to bed at 5 am.

The traditional ones were beautiful!!! Looked pretty darn real. But. The. Tension. Why is my scalp like this??? I’m very gentle with my hair. I did lightweight KNOTLESS braids with a fairly large base, and wrapped them.

I guess it’s Senegalese twists / knotless braids forever... Or at least until I reach my goal.

My scalp is bougie.
