    Default Hello

I’m new at this. I’ve never had a relaxer but have always straightened my hair. I want to start a natural journey and use less heat but my texture is straight due to so much heat over the years. How and where do I start? There are tons of products 😔

    Hi Val!
Welcome! If you have been using heat on your hair for a long time, and over and over, your hair is probably damaged. Does it curl up at all when it is washed or does it just get frizzy? How long is it now? It sounds like you may need to take our Transitioning Quiz first, to start your journey. Check it out and let me know your score:

    Hi Dee
My score was 30. My hair does curl when wet except the ends. When I do twist outs, the ends stay straight. My hair is bra length. I may need to cut the ends more often.

OK that's a start! It sounds like your ends are damaged. I would cut the ends off now to prevent them from splitting up the hair shaft. That way your twists will stay in and you won't be fighting the ends all the time.

Your 30 score means you are willing to do a long transition. How much new growth do you have now? Can you see a line of demarcation between the straightened hair and the new growth?
