Default Not quite sure about my hair type

    Hey ya'll, whats going on?

So, I recently started my hair journey over this November 2nd, and I'd say I've made some really great progress in these short few weeks (I'll show you). However, I'm having a bit of a hard time identifying what hair type I have because I just recently big chopped (I've NEVER worn my natural hair until now, 21 years later).

I'd like to think that I have 100% 4c hair, but I think it might be a mix between 4b/4c because I have SOME curls, but definitely not enough to be 4a. Please help me out, ladies!

First picture is current (November 23rd), 2nd is a better look at my head, and 3rd pic is big chop day (November 2nd)!

Hey girl welcome! You are a beautiful 4c thru and thru. The little coils are part of the hair type and can appear all through your hair. As it grows you may be able to identify some areas that will hold the coil better. Also if you were relaxing your hair you may go through a period of scab hair and your hair could completely change. That is all part of the journey!

    Completely agree with Dee. Welcome!

Don't overthink the hair type thing too much, especially with your hair being this short. Just wash, condition, and moisturize. As it grows and you get a better handle on what your texture does wet and dry, you can start looking at how other 4c's handle their business.
Hello, 2021. Glad to see you. Hope you're bringing us goodness and light this year!

Thank you ladies! It gives me a bit more comfort to know for sure what hair type I have so I know better on which products to test! I'm super excited because I can see and feel the difference between this time and my first attempt at going natural- I refreshed my hair yesterday and it's an amazing feeling being able to drag my finger across my scalp without catching a single snag~

I'll be sure to read alllll the posts!

Just be sure to remember, your hair type changes! What you are today may not be what you are a year from now. Or maybe 6 months from now - (just to make you crazy). LOL

We have alot of hair types bc our DNA has alot of people in it. No need to put yourself in a box. Find products that make your hair happy and go with it.
