Here's one I found in a natural beauty book that I absolutely love!
Colombian Hair Mask
1/2 ripe avocado
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp aloe vera
1 egg yolk
dash of honey
small piece of banana (optional)
Combine in blender or mix with beater. Apply to hair and leave in for one hour. Wash out. Leaves your hair beautiful and shiny!
I doubled up the recipe so that I would have enough to cover my hair. This really softened my hair up and gave it shine! Great for the winter!

deep conditioner:
1 banana cut in pieces, 1/2 avocado chopped as well as possible, 1/2 mango, 1Tablespoon honey, squirt in some of your favorite conditioner to make it creamier..
mix in a blender till smooth, enjoy the rest of the mango and avocado while the mix is in... this usually makes enough for 2 applications for my hair. i put the rest in the fridge and make sure i use it within the week
shampoo(back when i was trying to make a sap moss knock off :-cre ):
liquid castille soap, oat extract, irish moss powder, sea kelp powder, jojoba oil, honey, milk powder
mix well, really well a little a time like you do when mixing dry ingredients into wet ones when making a cake.
scalp spray (really helped with the itchies when my scalp was irritated)
distilled water, rosemary eo, lavender eo,
daily hair spray
distilled water, ylang ylang eo, patchouli eo,sweet orange eo,grapefruit eo,honey, small amount of suave conditioner, glycerin
sorry i dont really have measurements, i just sort of make it up and i go along.. :thumbsup

hey piscesgirl - the coconut oil you have will do just fine! in fact it was a little misleading of me to list it among 'liquid' oils b/c it's kind of in between. coconut oil's melting point is 76 degrees, it is solid or liquid depending on the season or the temperature of the room. mixed with even a little bit of other liquid oils it is easily convinced to stay liquid; and it will soften a solid butter if it's mixed with, say, shea or coconut.
but yeah... the coconut oil i used was solid at first; i had to melt it to add. mix on, baby! mix on!& that's all i have to say about that. ;)

Not sure about the sugar sub....maybe someone else can answer
Here is another conditioner
Winter Hair Conditioner
Ingredients
1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
1 tablespoon castor oil
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon glycerine
Procedure:
Mix together the shorterning and castor oil and warm gently until the shortening is liquefied. In a separate container, mix together the water, vinegar, and glycerin. Warm the mixture but do not boil. By hand or using a blender slowly beat the oil mixture into the water mixture. Allow the conditioner to cool completely.
To use:
Apply 1 tablespoon to just-shampooed hair, rinse well, dry, and style as usual.

I know this is all about hair, but it's winter now so I'm going to add in a lipbalm I made. I didn't measure, but it's fairly easy and you can decide how much you need depending on the jar you are going to use.
Coconut oil
Beewax (this gives it a solid form, so the more you use the more solid it would be)
Olive oil
Honey
FO (I used blueberry fragrance oil, found it at a local soap store in Norway)
Melt oils, waxes and honey. Whisk well or the honey would settle at the bottom of the jar. Experience.
Or you can wait for it to cool and mix with a spoon or a fork. It's best to pour the oils in your container and let it cool there. Less mess

Winter Body Lotion
Hi everyone,
I took a lotion recipe from "Natural Beauty at Home" by Janice Cox and have tweaked it to fit my needs and it works great.
1/4 cup distilled water
1/8 teaspoon borax powder (look in the detergent section of grocery store)
1/4 cup (4 Tbs.) shea butter
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 Tbs. grated beeswax (can be found in health food store)
Dissolve borax in water in a glass measuring cup and set aside.
Mix oil, shea butter, and beeswax in a glass measuring cup. Place cup in a sauce pan with about 1 to 2 inches of water. Heat on medium heat until beeswax and shea butter is melted. Stir occasionally.
When oil mixture is melted remove from heat. Heat borax-water mixture in microwave for 1 min. on high. Remove borax-water mixture from microwave with a pot holder and pour into oil mixture while stirring constantly. The oil and water will mix making a creamy lotion.
Allow to cool completely before adding EOs or fragrance. Pour into a clean container.
Massage into skin after shower or bath or whenever skin feels dry. May also be used on your face.
Enjoy and Happy Holidays
