Thread: Favorite Biblical Epic
-

op I used to have to watch these movies 100's of times, so while most other things were like, take your medicine, a lot of these films are a fond memory of childhood. I swear it's like I know a lot of them line by line. :lol
So what's your favorite biblical epic? Like the big box office films of the 40's and 50's, or something newer and smaller.
(I'm not basing favorites on accuracy, just overall quality and entertainment value)</span>
Or, on the flipside, which film did you <span style=\'color:red\'>not enjoy, and why?
Favorite: A.D. (Anno Domini)
Honorable Mention: The 10 Commandments (with Heston and Brenner) I know every line of that pic! :lol
Worst Film(s): Left Behind Series and all spawns/sequels. NOT GOOD MOVIES TO SHOW TO CHILDREN!! :fight I'm scarred for life, yet no longer a Christian, no thanks to those films. :rolling

Oh, and Honorable Mention to 1949's Sampson & Delilah. For the cheesy scene when Victor Mature fights/kills that lion.
:lol :lol
So badly done, but that's what made it so good! op
That was the only reason I was able to say "jawbone of an A**" when I was a kid. Thank you, Victor Mature. :thumbsup

fftopic vinny, your avatars are such a trip!
I'm not a huge fan of biblical epics period...but I know that the worst bible movie has got to be...
The Apple!
Picture a Jesus Christ Superstar style musical...only about the book of Genesis...
...with lots of drugs involved...
...and bright green accents in darn near every scene...
...and a cast that can't sing...
..and then change all the music to disco.
Makes Left Behind look like Hamlet.
Living abroad? Thinking of moving, or just moved back? Check out the Expat Nappies group!
Don't forget to THANK PANK!

Hey Vinny! {Order of Vanessa!} :-)
Like you, I liked Ten Commandments: I knew most of it by hard too!
"All your gold cannot wipe that mark from your door Dathan, nor from my heart".
"You let Moses kill my son, no god can bring him back."
"Bring it back to me, stained with his blood." "I will, to mingle with your own."
"Before you strike, show me his blood upon your sword." "You couldn't even kill him." "His God, is God."http://www.Queenlocks.com

Hey Vinny! {Order of Vanessa!} :-)
"You have rat's ears and a pharrots nose. Add to them the eyes of a weasel, and find me this deliverer."
"Kill ME master butcher!" "Moses!"
"I can flick a fly from my horses ear, without him batting an eye. You've seen me use my whip!"
"The old wind-bag."
" I am the son of your body. Who else could be pharoah?"
" You will be all mine. Like my horse or my dog or my whip. Only I will love you more, and trust you less."
You've started a bad addiction for me. :lol
surprising, with all the christians here, no one likes movies? :-P

I used to LOVE to watch those "Bible" movies as a kid. I'd watch them over and over and over. And of course at least one would come on at Christmas, so I'd be glued to the TV once again. I like the Ten Commandents and Ben Hur (was that the one with the lepers??). I think there was a third favorite of mine, but I'm drawing a blank now....
Those are classics. Great stories.

op
"I am Hebrew."
"One day you will listen to the cry of slaves." ..... "This is not that day Joshua."
"No doubt you can overcome anything, except your own arrogance."
"The man best able to rule Egypt shall follow me, I owe that to my fathers, not to my sons."
"You will never do the things to me you did to Moses."

Yeah, Ben Hur is about the Lepers, the Rowing below the ships, and the Horse Race.

"I could never love you." "Does that matter?"
"What kind of man is he? Who cares, he's man!"
"Do not let arrogance shave your princes luck." ??
"Did Ramses spin this, mother?"
"The smile is for a stonecutter, the water is for you."
"This green stone from our mountains, that I may give it to your prince of Egypt. For he is kind, as well as wise."
:lol Oh, you've gotten me riled up. :lol
