    Hey, I have a question...

I've been wearing lots of big french braids the last 3 or 4 weeks to give my hair a break. I seem to notice that stretching my hair for so long seems to have an effect on my hair when I wash 'n go. Seems my hair is still acting 'stretched' even after I've conditioner washed it. The curls don't shrink up and snap back like they used to. I don't know, could be just my imagination. Has anyone dealt with this before?

Unlike a lot of sistahs, I LOVE my shrinkage, and I'm missing it!

Well I definitely have the snap back kind of hair :lol . I am curious though, if this is what people mean by "training" one's hair.

I stretch my hair to make it easier to comb through and less matted to my head. I have no curl pattern to my hair. I have never eperienced my hair staying stretched after I wash it or spritz. It always shrinks back up. Always :razz

I haev noticed the same thing. I have tried to give me hair a break so sometimes I strecth my hair out, and then other times I do my wash and go. Well my wash and go is not the same because it is all floppy. I just figured it might take awhile to snap back. :-?

My hair does this too but it usually recovers after a few washes.

Yep my hair does the same thing too, I've noticed that using a plastic cap while conditioning helps it to shrink back down :thumbsup

A natural friend of mine who wears the same center-parted braidout day after day is developing a permanent part. Her hair flops to the sides no matter what, although it does shrink up when wet. It's just got the same general shape all the time.
Maybe this is the "training" that people talk about. But I'm sure you can "un-train" it by rinsing a few days in a row.

It takes my hair a while to "recover" from being stretched as well.
