Every style I do basically is on stretched hair. I think the only time I style my hair unstretched is in a wash & go puff. The reason I like stretched hair is because it is easier for me to manipluate with less breakage. My texture is super coily and too much wet styling causes nothing but knots and tangles..

I'll wash and condition my hair and then put it in big twists or band it to stretch it out. I let the twists or bands stay in overnight. In the morning I will get up and take the twists or bands out and comb through each section of stretched hair. At that point I can do any style I want...twist it, braid it, wear a puff, wear a fro, basically ANYTHING

    HTH :heart

i think banding the hair is silly. if you cant accept the shrinkage, maybe being natural is not for you.
    just my opinion.

:duck Wow, silly?? A lil harsh.............
I've banded b4 but not because I DON'T ACCEPT MY SHRINKAGE.
It's just another styling option I band my twists as well as knot them, cornrow them & each one has a diff. look.

I've just taken my cornrows down so my hair is stretch & thought someone could give my an idea of what to do with it in this stretched condition cause I'm not gonna wash it for another couple of days.
    I LOVE my NAPPZ :) !!

I usually stretch with twists, but it doesn't hang yet - not long enuf. Maybe you can just pin, braid, flattwist, etc. the front back, or put on a headband and wear a huge floppy fro?

edit to add: Whoops, you asked for instructions! I just look at pics with folks with similar hair (I think similar to your's too!): Jetblackkinks, Thighslikewhat, dewdrop, etc. HTH

Melanizm - you have some great styles in your album!

    Same here

Twists, twistouts, braidouts, flat twistouts. My hair is stretched most of the time.

So I guess you don't wear twists, braids, puffs, or basically any other natural style that doesn't involve just washing and going?...they all stretch the hair out just like banding. I guess you don't pick, comb, or brush either because that stretches the hair a bit too.

    :-P

Since when does banding/stretching automatically equate to dissatisfaction with shrinkage? I know that I experience WAY less breakage when working on stretched hair...it has nothing to do with not accepting shrinkage. It has to do with doing what's best for *my* hair health. But I guess that's silly, :lol.
