    Unhappy

    HI Ladies,

I've seen alot of ladies with locs and I always wonder how they seem to have sheen. My locs never has sheen. Once a month I normally shampoo, retwist and oil, but it normally dries looking really dry.

Any suggestions on how to give my hair a little sheen?

Maybe you should try shampooing more often with a moisturizing shampoo and do a hot oil treatment afterwards. I also find that my locs have more sheen when I am drinking lots of water regularly (nearly a gallon a day).

You could try an acv rinse which clarifies and removes build up adding a nice sheen.

Ditto. The ACV rinse has given my hair a nice sheen.

    On sheen and locs:

For me sheen comes when I keep my locs moisturised and clean... a deep condition treatment, followed by a shampoo session always gives me good results. A regular spritzing does too.

I agree, mommytimes2....the more water I drink, the better my hair looks. (Wow, a gallon day! I thought I was doing good getting down my 64 oz!)

We should also remember that locs are only going to have but so much natural sheen because of the nature of our hair shaft (that's what I've read).

I am getting ready to start my locs - freeform method - I plan to continue to use Hairobics Shampoo and a conditioner by Natural Elegance called, "Lock Up." I have been using them with great succes on my 6 year old natural hair. The Lock Up gives great sheen.

Are any of you who are locked using these products? If so, have you have experienced any build-up problems.

    Thanks a million!
