Thanks Afrikankween I will check those sites.

Also does it matter where I get my prayer rug from???

I don't want to wait for one from the online sources and I checked the Middle eastern stores in my area. They have them but there kind of just thrown to the side.

Thought about going to Michaels or JoAnnes and getting one.
I know it's not needed but I just like the reverance and deliberate focus on cleanliness and all.

My husband uses a rug and says growing up in egypt he and his family used clean towels.
I noticed no one takes their rugs to the mosque but they do for larger services in gymnasiums or the convention hall....
OOOps back to clothes gonna go check the site now.

    Thanks again.

    As salaamu alaikum

I have never heard of any restrictions on where you get your rug from. I never take mine to the masjid either, the carpet is clean and no shoes have been on it and our masjid caregiver cleans it very well on a regular schedule, may Allah bless him for his deeds. I take it with me to work and school though, because you never know where you will be when you need it.

Asalamu Alaikum Sister (Ah, that sounds so nice....)

Anway, it doesn't matter where you get your rug from. I got my first prayer rug from Al-Hannah.com since I was always internet savy. But the whole purpose of the rug is to keep yourself seperated from the filth on the floor. It doesn't have to be a special rug. I've used towels and even coats.

    As Salaamu Alaikum,

Yes it will update all your posts to reflect your new avatar. I just updated mine from L-boogie to what it currently is...

Good luck on finding your prayer rug. I've never gotten one before, I have my designated prayer towel, lol..

My experiences, that are mine and not to be generalised for other hijabis, have illustrated that the concern is not my oppression, but the inaccessibility of hijabi bodies and a general discomfort with those who have no problems with visible signs of cultural and religious difference. I am not sure about where to get one internet wise because mine was actually given to me as a present. However since i always carry my book bag (or some kind of bag) i keep some kind of fabric with me at all times. Its kind of hard to carry my rug since i am currently not driving.
