I am a Navy vet and I enlisted from my home state of Texas. I plan on moving back to Houston after I finish with my undergrad next Spring. My GI Bill education entitlement runs out right before I graduate, so I am going to heavily depend on the benefit of the Hazelwood Act. For those who don't know the Hazelwood Act is an entitlement in which any vet that enlisted from the state of Texas can go to any public Texas institution, in which tuition cost are waived. Of course the catch is that your GI Bill entitlement has to be used up first. Is there anyone who has actually taken advantage of this benefit? What is your experience?
Big chop in March 2005, and still loving this journey.

I work in student accounting at UH and I can tell you that we have a lot of vets taking advantage of the Hazelwood Act. Last year UH waived a little over $1 million in tuition.
