I am new to this site and I am currently in transition since 11/06. I have no idea as to what to do with my hair! I have been wearing wigs since I started. My hair is very thick and wavy. I do not know what to do to stop the breakage and dryness. I use Pantene Pro-V Relaxed and Natural for Women of Color and it has been working, but I would like some other suggestions, especially for use on a daily basis. Right now my hair is very dry and tangled, what can I use to detangle my hair? Please help!!!

Thanks for the info. I'm taking notes. One question though. What is a straw set? I have been transitioning since January. My hair is breaking in the back because I comb daily. Now that I've read so much on this site I feel better equipped to go natural. This is my third attempt. I often use a french twist with a comb and bobbie pins to hide the two textures. I think this has caused a lot of the breakage. I've never heard of a straw set. Can you explain? Thanks

A straw set is when you use straws to roll your hair instead of rollers. I have a couple pics in my fotki album under April. It was my first time but it will give you an idea of what it is ^_^ HTH

I like to use Suave Coconut and Suave Humectant conditioner. I don't think conditioning washes work well if you have a lot of product buildup. If you do, then you might need to shampoo first and do a ACV rinse. Then, you can do conditioner washes with no problem.

hello, i've been natural for 6 months now and i love it. i'm experimenting with different products and would like to know where i can find the suave humectant conditioner?

I cut all of my beyond-shoulder length relaxed hair a few days ago and perhaps some brain cells too...What does "BC" stand for? Is there a Nappturality Glossary on this site?

A straw set is one in which you use regular drinking straws to roll your hair onto (Kind of like what you probably used to see older women do with those big pink/black/green foam rollers). You can take the straw and cut it in half or however you want to cut it, use a small amount of whatever product you use on your hair. Now, roll your hair onto the straw like you would a roller, and use a bobby pin to hold it. Wait until your hair is completely dry and unroll. To get rid of the parts, you can massage your scalp a little.

    Hope this helps

find you a GNC they carry EO and Jojoba sweet almond grape seed oils aloe vera juice and gel pm some GA nappies and see who is near you who can guide you around
    [/b]

What exactly is EO? I'm trying to learn the napptural-jargon used around here.

"What styles can I wear? How do I deal with the two textures?
Most people will suggest wearing styles that disguise the two textures. That includes twists, twist-outs, rollers sets, braids, braid outs, Bantu/chi-chi knots, wet sets, straw sets, etc. Don't forget about the basic ponytail, just make sure that it isn't too tight."

Hey ya'll! I'm new to this stuff so could someone explain what those hairstyles are and how to do them? Perhaps pictures??? Thanks! And if anyone out there wants a mentee, I'm available

Braidouts and twistouts are a style created by braiding or twisting your hair, either wet or dry and taking them out. You can do them in a cornrowed style or individually. Bantu knot sets are twisting sections of hair on each other and taking them out. These styles all create a curly look that IMO, looks good on anybody. Straw setting is rolling your hair with drinking straws. The finished result is right here in my avatar. Wet setting is simply setting you hair when it's wet by braidouts, twistouts, roller sets, etc.
    Transitioning start March 07
