Thread: Using Pure Aloe
-

I hear a lot about Aloe Vera Gel and was wondering if anyone has tried using the actual aloe plant from scratch, like boiling it perhaps. I've been thinking about it for a while like boiling it and using the water as part of a leave in conditioner....
Anyone?

Not me. Just been buying the bottle of it at Walgreens. But if you want to make sure you are getting the purest thing, I guess the best thing to do would be to get the plant.
I dont know about boiling it though. I would think you would split open the leave, scoop out the insides of the plant, process it in a food processor until it is super smooth.
But that is my ameture kitchen scientist thinking. Let the pros answer this.Nappy since November 11, 2003

I had a herbal steam treatment a few years ago at a hairdressers that only specialise in natural hair. They just scooped out the insides of the aloe leaf and added kemi-oyl, peppermint and rosemary essential oils.
Unfortunately they then used some gel to do my twists which did not agree with my hair at all and completely dried it out
I would like to try the herbal treatment again to see if it actually works and am thinking of buying the plant so I can try it at home.
