I love snacking so I was wondering if anyone wanted to share some health low cal/low fat snacks...I find for me if I can just find a low calorie/low fat substitue for something I love I can switch them with no problems...

I love Cool Ranch Doritos so for a snack I have...

I pop light sweet Orville Reddingbocker (spelling?) microwave popcorn 200 calories a bag and like 2 grams of fat...I spray it with spray olive oil (Pam or the like would work they are all fat and calorie free) and then I sprinkle over a helping of Kernal Season's in Ranch and a bit of white Cheddar they have 2 calories for 1/4 of a teaspoon and they are fat free..

When I am in the mood for something sweet I have some jello...I love jello...the sugar free version which has 40 calories for the box...I mix it with diet sprite instead of cold water and top it with fat free cool whip it doesn't taste at all diet and its tangy yet sweet ( I love lemon) Also I sometimes toss in some fruit for varity..

My third staple snack is yogurt...I love those fruit and yogurt parfait's they seel at Mcdonald's so I make my own...I just discovered the wonders of frozen fruit...I was afraid to buy it because I remember my mother coming home with these horrid bricks of blueberries when I was a kid but when I picked up a few bags of frozen fruit I was supirse at how great and fresh everything taste so I have been useing them for my fruit fix..saving money too since nothing goes bad. ANyway I pour a little of whatever frozen fruit mix I choose into a bowl (I like the berry mix at 60 calories per cup) I heat it in the microwave for about 40 seconds until the ice crystals are gone then I spoon over some fat free or low fat plain yogurt (110 cals per cup)...I top it with some honey and stir..some times I add a bit of plain granola ...but just a small amonut does it for me...

I am working on a low fat jello pie but its just keeps coming out odd...

I wish I could just deal with having a peice of fruit but I have to fool myself...plus I enjoy the preparing of snacks..oh hmm sorry this whole post is one run on sentencl

    Hi Moxie -
Mmm, I like your snack recipes. I'll definitely have to try the yogurt and fruit trick (have two pounds of frozen strawberries I don't know what to do with).
That Jello sounds good too. I may have to use my extra creamy Cool Whip for that though :lol I just love that stuff!

Also, what are you using for the Jello Pie? I remember the Jello brand strawberry pie from way back and I loved it. Is yours similar?

Now, here are some choices for lo-fat snacks that I like.

    reduced-fat chips and salsa
    string cheese w/apple slices
lo-fat grah crackers spread with a little peanut butter - about 1tbsp
eng. muffin topped with tomato slices & lo-fat provolone (I add a little
salt and pepper on the tom. slices and put under the broiler until
    cheese melts)
plain albacore tuna with about 5 saltines
fried rice made with a little Pam, day-old or older rice, whole or just
egg whites, frozen peas & carrots (run under warm water and
drain before adding to skillet) & green onions (I use a bit of
regular soy for taste sauce but reduced-sodium soy can be used)
You can add cooked, cubed chicken breast meat to this for
    chick-fried rice

Hmm, I need to start making these snacks again. It's been a while.

Kashi TLC (Tasty lil Crackers) are my new craze. They come in a variety of flavors and are tasty (all whole grain).

    Carrot sticks.

    Dates. (YUMMY)

I get those frozen vegan snacks (most look like samoosas) that you can pop in the oven for a warm bite.

Seeds and nuts. Roasted pumpkin seeds.

    Odwalla Food Bars

    Crackers and peanut butter.

Thanks for the great snack ideas ladies! Oh and Yeah the pie I am trying to make has sugar free Strawberry Jello and fat free whipped cream...but I was having trouble coming up with a light crust...finally I settled on those little personal graham white person crumb pie tins...the tiny ready made ones...I figured at least I would know how many calories and how much fat was in each one as opposed to just cutting a slice and guessing....
