Just like how one should think before they speak, they should think before they touch. I don't allow people to put their hands in my hair unless it's my family. No one really does that anyhow.

When she found it was soft, she asked me what kind of hair spray did I use. To make it stand up? LOL. Nah, we're poor. Poor things for depriving her, others, and ourselves of our beauty. But before anyone gets mad, what someone does to their hair is their own choice. Just educated choices is all I want.

Anyways, I've learned something else. If someone touches me, I'm gonna have to find a way to deal. I don't like feeling helpless because I can't slap them without thinking the po-pos gonna get me. I need to find some way to accept it, maybe enjoy it..if that's possible.

I honestly think some white people see the afro as a joke or costume.

I absolutely agree with you, almost like a gimmic. It's quite sad.

Hey, how do you blow your afro out? I am new to this afro thing, and I'd like to do some different stuff with mine. Plus I have shrinkage, so blowing out might help me.

We don't give advice on heat styling on NP, because it can result in irrevocable damage. Shrinkage is a given with nappy hair. Learning to accept it, even love it, is a part of loving nappy hair. :afro:

This topic title has been edited since its not really about heat styling.
resistance to the nap is futile
