Well 2 be honest with u ..I started my hair with COILS and i believed at 1st and still do that they work out much better ....the loc pattern is already FORMED...all they have to do is eventually LOCK and MATT...thats it...I am now 1 yr and 3mos loc'd ..Now one of my male cousins that started his with 2 strand wish he would have did the COILS instesd ( 2 each's own) because he started his ALOT of months b4 i did and mines already loc'd and r growing FAST..while he is stuck with MATTED ROOTS and 2strand hair in the middle all the way to the end of his hair...LOOKIN CRAZY...its going on a FULL YEAR that he has that pattern ...2 me that takes to long and to much time....but 2 eachs own
IN THIS PIC AND I HOPE IT POSTS ...I AM 3MOS...THE BACK OF COURSE MATTED FIRST AND FAST CUZ U KNOW U LAY ON YOUR HEAD AT NIGHT!!

Hello Yummy:
I first started with coils then had to start over with 2st which worked well for me. It has now been a little over 2 years and there are still some of my locs that have the 2st pattern on the tips but your loctician was right, it will go away eventually. I am not worried as I have found 2st the best method for me and my hairtype.
You can find pics in my album, the link is in my sig. The most recent pics are in the 2005 folder. I cannot post a picture as it is so large it gets removed everytime I try to post a pic in a thread.
Enjoy!
Peace

check the last page
i show how im locking my hair the second time around and im using two strand twists
my hair pretty much loc'd after a month (meaning the hair didnt unravel when washed) I washed my hair like 2 times the first month. Its been about 4.5 months and my hair is loc'd solid
havent taken a new pic in about a month though
I did coils the first time and this time i did 2st and i find the result similar, except i prefer 2st because my hair remains in the pattern of the twists
i wash my hair often enough to keep the pattern, but not too much that the hair doesnt loc
the ends are still curly which i like, so if she wants to achieve that, she might go with 2st
the problem with coils is the chances of unraveling are higher, but its still a great method

I've got medium to large locks and I started with two strands- I don't have very many from early in the journey because I didn't have a camera but I hope the pix help.
Some people's hair takes longer than others to lock and grow, my exbf started locking 6 months before me and my locks which took over a year to lock, caught up with his and eventually even surpassed his in length. Our hair does what it wants no matter what the method.

I am considering starting my second set of locs this year and I am trying to decide which method to use. I was considering loc extensions but after being quoted $600 today, I've decided against that. The loctician that I spoke with also stated that if I were to start my own locs with 2 strand twists they would take longer to loc? I'm curious as to other people's opinions if 2 strand twists take longer to loc than comb coils?
Also if anyone has progression pics of locs started with 2 strand twists I'd like to see them...
Or if anyone has any pics of medium to larger locs I'd like to see them too.
Thanks ladies.
