Thumbs up

If any of these questions can be answered I will be V greatful

1. Is henna actually "good" for the hair like Ive seen written on some websites?

2. is it best to get a hairdresser to do it or could I do it easily myself?

3. If I am to do it myself (cos Im too broke for the hairdressers lol), are there any particular brands I should look out for? P.S: Im from UK so no US only brands!

4. How long does one application stay in for? Or are there diff types of permanant, semi-permanant, etc to choose from?

5. Im finking on getting Mahogany dye. Would it suit me? (Fotos of me in my fotki- see my siggy) and does the colour come out very bright?

Thanks.

Someone on this site has a Fotki with step by step henna instructions, but - darnit - I can't remember who. If I find them, I'll post the link for you.

Go to hennaforhair.com it ships international and is affordable. You can apply it your self. Its messy but you can do it by yourself. It is good for your hair much better then chemical dyes. The website I gave you will give you alot more info it also has a forum so you can get tips from there.

Pookeylou used henna and documented the process in detail her album. Here is the topic on it:

Still, if you do a search on "henna" you'll find lots of toics on it. Good luck!

Henna update:
No I still havnt dyed my hair yet, lol
But I was wondering if the henna from Lush.com is any good? I noticed that it is not pure henna, but the ingredients mention everything that Ive read people add to their mix.
http://www.lush.co.uk/index.php?main_page=...products_id=166
Ingredients: Red Henna (Lawsonia inermis), Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Fresh Lemon Juice (Citrus limonum), Powdered Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), Clove Bud Oil (Eugenia caryopyllus), Perfume.

Could I just use that or would people suggest mixing anything else with it?

Did you check out the link to Pookeylou's thread? She lists what she included and posted before and after picks. It turned out really good on her. She ordered from lush.com.

I've been using henna for about 6 six months with excellent results. I use body quality henna from hennaforhair.com. The lush product seem to have other ingredients in their henna. Check out the henna forum at hennaforhair. Catherine has a ton of information about henna.

Just tried Jamila henna and Indigo from Catherine. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just love the results. I've tried

Surya henna in brown and the color kept running when I put oils in my hair. But not with Jamila henna.

It left my hair soft and it looks and feels healthier. The grays are nicely blended in too.
