Im loving Kirk Franklins latest album- especially "Imagine Me" and "Hero". Yolanda Adams "That Name" and "Fragile Heart" always make me cry. Donnie McClurkins" Great is thy Mercy" from his recording in London. I also love "when the saints go in to worship", not sure who sings that one. ITA with Mahalia Jackson from that last scene in Imitation of Life!

I could name a million Gospel songs that have touched me and help make me through some tryin times...but right now India.Arie's new CD is SOOOOO inspiring to me at this time in my life..I think it may be time to purchase a duplicate copy because I have worn this CD to death...
When I first listened to the CD, "Private Party", is the song that made me shed a zillion tears because it felt as if she wrote this song particularly for me..like she knew me....I guess it felt good to know that I wasn't alone and I am not crazy.......
Now, I can't decide which songs on the CD are my favorite..because I love them all. If you don't have it...get it...for every woman learning to love who she has become and where God is taking her....this is for you.
Peace & Blessings

from amy grant (sometimes it's my mantra)
When the weight of all my dreams
Is resting heavy on my head
And the thoughtful words of help and hope
Have all been nicely said
But I'm still hurting, wondering if I'll ever be the one
I think I am
I think I am.
Then you gently re-remind me
That You've made me from the first
And the more I try to be the best
The more I get the worst.
And I realize the good in me
is only there because of who You are
who You are.
And all I ever have to be is what
You've made me
Any more or less would be a step out of Your plan
As you daily recreate me help me always keep in mind
That I only have to do what I can find
And all I ever have to be
All I have to be
All I ever have to be is what You've made meThanks Ev.</span>

Welp for me I really like the song "I Wont Complain" but the version sung by some man I cant remember.. Kee or Bishop something.. He does an excellent job of reminding a sista to stop complaining!
and I just heard the India.Aire song with a hook along the lines of 'I choose" that really spoke to me.My experiences, that are mine and not to be generalised for other hijabis, have illustrated that the concern is not my oppression, but the inaccessibility of hijabi bodies and a general discomfort with those who have no problems with visible signs of cultural and religious difference. Kameelah Janan Rasheed
Call upon Me and I will Respond to you! (40:60)

Most recently I listened to "Thank You" (redone by Mary Mary, never heard the original) after having the CD for over 2 years I finally connected with the song and it was yet another reminder that despite it all, I have truly been blessed and I need to be thankful for the life I do have because circumstances could surely be worse.
MARY MARY LYRICS
"Thank You"
Tragedies are commonplace
All kinds of diseases, people are slipping away
Economies down, people don't get
Enough pay
But as for me all I can say is
Thank you Lord for all you done for me
Folks without homes are in the streets
And the drug habit some say
They just can't beat
Muggers and robbers, no place seems
To be safe
But you've been my protection every
Step of the way
And I want to say
thank you Lord for all you've done
For me hey?
[Lead:] It could've been me
[Chorus:] Thank you
[L:] Outdoors
[C:] Thank you
[L:] With no food
[C:] Thank you
[L:] And no clothes
[C:] Thank you
[L:] All left alone
[C:] Thank you
[L:] Without a friend
[C:] Thank you
[L:] Or just another number
[C:] Thank you
[L:] With a tragic end
[C:] Thank you
[L:] But you didn't see fit
[C:] Thank you
[L:] To let none of these things be
[C:] Thank you
[L:] You keep on, keeping on, keeping me
[C:] Thank you
[L:] I wanna say
[Chorus:] Thank you Lord for all you've done for me
I wanna thank you for your love
Thank you for your power
Thank you for protection, every hour
Thank you
"Be like a flower. A flower does not try to be beautiful, it's True Nature is Beauty. It exudes fragrance, beauty, perfection just by its very Being. In the same way, when you awaken to your True Nature you will naturally exude Love, Compassion and Beauty. It is all you! It is your True Self." ~Robert Adams
