I'll keep doing the soy till I'm done, then I have powdered nonfat milk, less calories, then I'll do powdered soymilk and finally edge into water.[/b]
the water isn't bad at all as long as you have enough fruit/sweetener to mask the bitterness of your greens. after a while you won't even notice you aren't using juice/smilk.

    yay!
i'm so glad i found this thread! I've been trying to work more veggies and fruits into my diet (which i've done quite successfully) but now I'm trying to get more RAW veggies in. I'm going to try my first green smoothie this weekend. I dunno what i'm going to use yet. I'll have to wait and see whats in season and whats reasonably priced at the market.

question... why are people freezing bananas?

adding a frozen banana(or two) makes the smoothie thicker and creamier.

I just started back up with the smoothies last week. What a treat! I get more than my recommended daily allowance of fruits and vegetables before lunch and I feel and look great!

for a savory smoothy I like:

an avocado- 1 or 1/2 of one
bunches of mixed greens of your choice:
    parsley
    collards
    spinach
    kale
    romaine lettuce
    cucumber
    celery
    clove of garlic
bunch of basil leaves and stems ( this is crucial to the taste)
celtic sea salt to taste- a pinch
optional: add one tomato pinch of red pepper
    spring water
    some vitamin c powder ( buffered c)
some fresh lemon or lime juice
    maybe some hemp protein powder

I'm out now, but I'd also probably try adding chlorella or a bit of spirulina powder

All the skin care products in the world...nonsense. Just drink enough water and get adequate greens and years of problem skin have disappeared. [/b]
amen! That's so true- it's mainly about diet.

I also freeze them to make the smoothie cold. I don't add ice, so the frozen banana and fruits do the trick. Oh, and b/c bananas tend to ripen quick, freezing them buys me plenty of time. I buy them semi ripe, let sit out for a day, then toss them all in the freezer.

I have a recipe for a green drink that is refreshing, delicious and healthy - but it isnt a smoothie. Here goes: cucumbers, honey, bottled water, honey(cane sugar, brown sugar, molasses etc whatever your preference to sweeten), lemon juice and ginger.

I also freeze bananas because they go bad so quickly. Also you can make DELICIOUS ice cream just with frozen bananas. I put them through my champion juicer with a blank screen and they come out like soft serve ice cream

I will have to try that cucumber drink- it does sound so refreshing for a warm day!
