Ok people, I have a dilema. My locs are at what I call an awkward length They are not quite shoulder-length, but are creeping down my neck. As my hair was a TWA when I started locing, they are all the same length i.e. the front ones are the same length as the back ones, but look shorter (last 2 pics in my fotki):

Side
Now I have a few events coming up and I REALLY need inspiration for some styles APART from pinning/cornrowing the front and leaving the back down.
I've looked through some fotki's and the album links on here, but I can't seem to find anyone with the same length/size locs as me.
PLEASE help! Is there anyone out there at the same stage with style ideas? :unsure:It is what it is.

I don't have locs, so I could way off on this. But I do believe that it is just a reflection at the different growth rates in your head. Nothing to fret over. Also, the natural hair stylist I go to told me that our hair is not meant to be even all over unlike the European hair that has a tendency to be even all over. I think as time goes on the shorter locs will catch up with the longer ones. It also could be a reflection of where the locs are starting at, for instance it seems the ones that are shorter are closer to the top of your head. Remember shrinkage counts for something, so it also could be a result of shrinkage.
P.S. Your locs look absolutely wonderful. If I say napptural and you say natural, we're talking about the same thing-differently. But if I say natural and you say re.laxer, then one of us is f*ckin wrong.

I really like the pipe cleaner idea - but how do you stop them from unravelling?
Also, does anyong know of any good up-dp styles?
OR - even better - one that can combine pipe cleaners AND an up-do?It is what it is.

there's a thread somewhere around here that contains a basket weave tutorial. I think you can do one in the back and have your curls in the front. Also you can twist the front and leave the back hanging. The pipe cleaner gives sort of a spiral curl. You can do sponge rollers for a different type of curl. You might also try a braid out.

Your locs are gorgeous, and on to your question......I'm a newbie with shoulder-grazing twists. What I like to do, since there's not much that I can with this length, is flat twist the back into sections that go diagonally up and then set the front on rods. It's a pretty cool updo and the only thing I can seem to do at the moment.
HTH~~~~~Ain't no Black like my Black bcuz my Black is proud, my Black is beautiful, my Black rocks locs and wears a nap like no other~~~~~
