Miss Jessie's In Brooklyn Is Now Closed

So someone told me that Miss Jessie's got into a big time lawsuit (and lost, I imagine) and has shut down completely in NY. I tried to do a quick search online but didn't find a reliable answer -- just chit chat in other forums. Also, I did not see a prior conversation here on NP. So I haven't verified, and I'm curious to know all the details.

I know that some of us thought they were a bit disingenous over there, especially after the recent interview with one of the owners where she talked about the nappy nazis or something to that effect. I, for one, never went there (even though I live in NY), but I'm curious to hear reactions on this board.

Mine was sort of

:clap: but I guess I shouldn't laugh at anyone's bad news. So do you ladies know about this, and what do you think?

On their website, they say they decided to close the salon and focus on selling their products. I know their products are available in a lot more places now and they have made more affordable sizes.

I heard one of them is doing hair in D.C. now.

I have not heard anything about a lawsuit.

I can't laugh at someone's misfortune just because they don't feel the same way I do.

Besides there really are some nappy nazis :lol:

Okay, so one of my friends spoke to the owner, Miko (sp?) on the phone because she had an hair appointment with Miko and Miko told her that they closed due to a lawsuit.

I just wanted to know if any one here knows the details - charges, etc.

Somebody probably sued because they didn't get what they expected. They're prices ARE a bit outrageous for something you could probably do at home.

Get out of my head!! Especially the bolded part. I am not one to laugh at someone's misfortune, but if there was a CHANCE that they were doing that then they don't need to be in business. Besides, the promise of turning kinks to curls is somewhat ludicrous. I doubt that I walk in there with what is growing out of my head NOW and walk out with silky curls.....just my .02.

I did a search and there was the mention of the lawsuit on another hair board. The poster thinks it may have to do with their products because they have changed the formula of their products which now include junk ingredients like slicone and mineral oil.
