This is tied to the recent announcement that the Bush administration is giving people tax rebate checks.
As I said in the other thread on this subject, my check's going straight to Bank of America...and I have a hunch that the same is true for a lot of folks, which reinforces my belief that this administration is completely out to lunch. <_<
So since NP is a valuable source of black women's opinions...I thought I'd ask: Who here is REALLY going to use their check to "stimulate the economy" by buying something?
NOTE that I differentiated between buying "something you need" and "something you want." I realize that "need" differs according to the individual, so I'm defining "need" as something that will significantly impact the quality of your life if you get it or don't get it.
ETA: If you're going to buy something, state what you're going to buy (if it's not too personal, though personal stuff is okay too).Hello, 2021. Glad to see you. Hope you're bringing us goodness and light this year!

Traditionally, I follow an 80/20 rule with my tax refund--80% of it goes into my indexed savings account and 20% goes into my checking account--and that's theoretically "spent."
This year, I want to pay down a bill, so I might do 70/30. My desire to "stimulate" the economy has little to do with "extra cash" that I get from anything. I spend whenever I want to.
IF I buy something with tax money, I "want" to buy a new sofa and chair and do a small remodel to my living room, but again, I can do that irrespective of the rebate, so I dunno. :unsure:BC: March 25, 2006 (after a 12 month transition)

I'm dusting off the part of my brain that has my Econ/Finance degree knowledge in it, but nothing's coming, so tell me NappGeniuses, won't this be considered as income that you'll be taxed on anyway?

Forget "stimulating the economy," I'm trying to stimulate some growth in my savings account! When are we supposed to get this check?
