Hi, I am in need of a laptop computer for work and some personal use....also for digital photography. I am interested in knowing what brand of laptops ya'll use? I have had Mac and a old Dell laptop. I am not too keen on Mac. My home desktop is a Gateway. Looking to spend under a G. Thanks in advance

I got a steal on an IBM Lenovo ThinkPad at Office Depot with $300 in mail-in rebates. It is the latest and greatest Core 2 duo processor, 2 MB RAM and 80GB Hard Disk Drive. It is built solid. If they have put them on clearance, they automatically take an additional 10% off. They also gave me an extra $100 for a rebate that they couldn't verify and took the 10% off of that.

I am not a fan of either Acer, Dell or Gateway but I hear good things about HP, Sony, and Toshiba.

As far as the rebate I have received one back and was able to verify that the other is in process.

Once I didn't receive a rebate on some product (can't remember) but they gave me the rebate out of the register when I went to the store with my paperwork.

It is the second PC I have purchased from them. The other was at least 3/4 years ago. It was a Compaq and it is still ticking.

Thanks for the great information. Yeah I had a refurbished Compaq, I loved that thing. See I may have to get a Compaq or HP.
