so it's really heating up, and summer is FINALLY on its way!
i know most people on here are ready to untwist, unbraid, and unbun, ready to release those naps that have been in hiding for most of the winter.
well, i'm not, because i can't.
i usually wear my hair out in the cold and tucked away in the summer because i swim a lot, i'm in cross country training, and i'm a summer camp counselor at my church's camp program. i have so much stuff going on during the warm months that i can't be bothered with my hair.
so, i was wondering if anyone wanted to join me on this short challenge.
here are the guidelines/rules:

GOAL: To keep your hair tucked away for the summer
TIMELINE FOR BLITZ: June 2, 2008-September 2, 2008

DIFFERENT TYPES OF CHALLENGERS: (i'm organizing y'all like i separate the kids at camp)
Green Group: Wear different protective style every week, with hair out on weekends
Red Group: Wear a protective style for two weeks, with hair out on the weekend of the second week
Silver Group:Wear monthly protective styles, with hair out on last weekend of the month
Gold Group
: Wear one protective style for the entire challenge

Choose your group, state your starting length, products you use, etc.
Remember, you're not really tied to that group, i just want to get a general feel as to what kind of challengers we have in here. As motivation for protective styling, i was also wondering if someone could find a link to some page that has like 101 Protective Styling Ideas. i once saw this in someone's album, and it was awesome, could someone look into that??
thanks guys! it'll be fun!

Hey Raq, since I'm still in the stage of growing out my TWA. I'm definitely in the green group, sometimes red, if my scalp doesn't itch to death!

I'm in with ya!!!

Starting in the gold group with small twists as my style of choice.

My starting length is 5 1/2 in for the very 1/2 in layer in the back of my head, 6 3/4 in everywhere else except for the sides above my ear which comes in at 6 1/2 in. I'm experimenting with my routine but my staple products of yogurt and shealoe will remain the same.

I never join challenges, but I might as well join this one just to say I did. I will be in the gold group. I have already finished putting my senegalese twists in and will be keeping them in the whole summer. I usually cannot stand to go over a month without changing braids but that will be the challenge for me. I plan on spritzing everyday, co-washing every other day and doing a shampoo rinse once a week.

PC, I've always wondered about co-washing every other day-it sounds like something that feels really good, but i'm worried about the frizzies. i'm thinking that if your twists are with extensions, it won't be a problem. however, what do you think about co-washing every other day with twists that haven't had any hair added?

anyone else?? come on, people, you know you want to!!

I'll try this. I think I think I'll pick the red group cause my styles tend not to last that long.

I'm definitely in. Silver group for me, though I can't stand having my hair out for no longer than a few hours before I get the urge to put it in a protective style.

I'll be wearing braids with beads, with cornrows in the front. I don't know, maybe after I've had this in for a few months, I'll change it to a full head of braids with beads.

Current length? Last time I checked (Which was early last month), it was 4.5 inches in the front, over 5 inches in the middle and sides, and 4 inches in the back.

I keep it simple when it comes to my hair. Before I style it, I shampoo and condition with Tresemme products, spray with Royal Roots Daily Moisturizing Spray, add a quarter sized amount of Moeshealoe, and then style with either Royal Roots holding creme or Aloe Vera Gel. For daily maintenance, I spray an oil-based spray after showers to keep my hair moisturized.
