I signed on to ask about different ways people had been using honey on their skin and hair when I saw a related post. Another nappturality member had an allergic reaction.

I'm still interested in your various experiences using honey. I finally did the honey/olive oil treatment that I've seen rave reviews of and love the shine I got with my twists and twist out.

I also did the honey mask and felt that my pores looked tighter and my skin felt nice.

I even made a shea/honey twist balm after I did the hot oil treatment and passed it on to my sister to twist the roots of her locs with.

So what experiments have you conducted and what were your results?

I basically use honey in my conditioner. I usually add about 2-3 tablespoons of honey to my conditioner (LeKair Cholesterol), let sit in my hair for 30 minutes and then rinse out. It leaves my hair unbelievably moist, shiney, and soft. Definately a keeper!

Hmm, haven't tried using it on my face yet. I may give it a shot one of these days.

I have used it with olive oil and ORS hair mayo as a conditioner. Totally by accident I found it was a good holding spray for locs when curling or braiding.
I used
1.5 cups of water
4 table spoons of honey
2 tablespoons of olive oil
in a spray bottle.
I cornrowed my locs while they were dry and just used the spritz for moisture (experimenting) and took them down less than 8 hours later the hold was amazing it lasted for 2 weeks.

I'm sure it was the honey b/c after I sprayed my locs I had to mop the floor it was sticky from all the honey. So you have been warned!!

Are we talking about regular honey that you add to foods and drinks?

But the worry of bees attacking my puff in the summer still comes to my mind... :huh Has anyone been attacked yet by a swarm of bees or by a bee? :-P

I use regular grocery store honey, but I stick with clover. I use it on my face, I EAT it, of course, and I have slathered it in my hair as a conditioner just for fun. It didn't really seem to do a whole lot in my hair, but I love the fact of knowing that I am using something natural, so I like it. HONEY IS GREAT FOR ACNE!! (voice tapers off) I love honey......

I've been using the honey and sugar scrub once a week to exfolliate my face and body for the past three weeks and had nothing but great results. Then for last week and a half, I did the pure honey mask on my face twice last week and again last night and I noticed that I am breaking out in small rashes on one side of my face so instead of doing the mask (which I loved the result before I started getting the rashes) I will use it to do my facial exfolliating scrub and also use it to spot treat my breakouts, which it seems to do a good job on.
