    Yeah, 'cause folks are still ashamed of what comes of their scalp. It seems so lame these days when people give excuses for not allowing their hair to be 'free'. If you want to perm it go ahead, but stop with the excuses.

    WHAT! I’m so tired of hearing this also. I work at a law firm and when I got the job there I had shoulder length locs. I’m on my second set now (10 months in) and it’s not an issue.

    I just got some bantu knots - they're cute... always try something different... probably not professional though...

    About professionalism, I'm about to start my second set tonight. I'm a clergy person and I work for a DV agency. The people at work have never seen my loc'd hair, but in both contexts, folks have seen me with all kinds of cuts and colors (currently green), but never with locs. This is going to be fun!

    I'm also thinking about this idea that locs impede professional progress. I'm still infuriated by the picture of the CEO of Crushers Club cutting off young Black men's locs because "it's symbolic of change and their desire for a better life." I'm furious because she apologized because people found out about it, but not because she realized how wrong it was to enforce that narrative. I don't see her as being any different as the woman who cut off the young wrestler's hair because the ref wouldn't let him compete.

    Anyway, before I go all the way AWF...I'll just say that I'm looking forward to living up to my username once again.
    I'm fearfully and wonderfully made from my scalp to the ends.

    I had a dream last night that my twists came out and half of my head was an afro and the other half was random baby twists/locs. The afro was about 2 inches long and all of my color was gone.

    Any interpreters in the house?
    I'm fearfully and wonderfully made from my scalp to the ends.
