I need to wash my locs ...I don't feel like it

Sigh, my life.

Whenever I cut my locs, the ends attract lint. WHYYYY!! Think I'll search the board for a solution b/c EVA-REE-THING has been addressed on NP!

I'm at work, and just went for breakfast. While waiting for my order I notice a white woman with brown, teal, purple and blonde locs and think to myself....those look disgusting.

Then I wondered if people looking at my hair thought the same thing.

Then I shook my head because....hell naw.

I have one loc that I placed in a really awkward spot and I think it will cause problems in the future. I put it right at the corner of my forehead that is made up of pure baby hair (edges), which of course has a very short terminal length. I notice that after I wash my hair and my roots come undone, it leaves this particular loc hanging by a thread because the short little hairs don't reach all the way into the loc. I have to retwist often to keep the little short hairs meshed into the locs. This is the only loc I use gel on. I interlock it every so often as well. Today I noticed it was particularly bad. The loc was hanging on by a few strands. By the time I wrapped the hairs around the base of the loc, it looked normal size again. I knew when I made this locs that it was in a bad spot but moving it would have required more adjustments in the parting of the surrounding locs so I just went with it. I regret that now.

...my mother wants me to cut a lock and give it to her for her head. I think the thought is great-the fear of having a 'gap' makes me hyperventilate.

...I am looking for a lock specialist to give me a fly cut. I'm in Tampa, FL now and this heat is more than a notion. My neck feels strained again from the extra weight and I want my hair cut back NOW. I'm looking for pictures of lock cuts and a stylist. help!

I would start with shaving the back. If I do that, then, perfect. I'll have a couple of rows to donate to mom!

Yes, I did it and I love it. Truthfully, I'm growing tired of locks on me-but I have no interest in taking care of lose hair. I will probably continue to cut until i just need to cut them off. We will see. I am feeling ready for something new.I shaved from temple to the back and around. I also cut them back to bra strap in October. They are back past bra strap again. I'll play around with a few cuts, bobs, shave more. I was in a car accident in 2017, neck pain is no joke, so heaviness from locks is uncomfortable....stay tuned. I'm really torn about it all.

Sorry to hear about the accident, neck pain is no joke. I had two bulging discs in my neck so I know how it goes.

i finally got some relief after having mild traction therapy from a back/spine specialist. I followed that up with (very) gentle yoga excercises to strengthen the muslces and hold the vertebrae in place.

My neck has gradualy strengthend and I now have very few issues. I also used cannabis oil to deal with the inflamation that came with my neck issues. This regime finally wiped out 15 years of agony. This may be worth looking into if you still have pain.

It isn't the traditional route by any means, no trad doctor will suggest it, but it worked for me.

Also if you have any chiro, it's worth combine it with the gentle yoga when you can, because they don't seem to tell you, you need to strengthen the muscles to keep the bones in place once they move them back to where they need to be.

On the hair front, I do so little with my locs other than tighten them, they're now tickling my tail bone. One day, one day I'll get around to doing something of interest with them

Thank you! Great tips! I’m a yoga junkie, so I will keep that up. It seems to fix all things so I just feel better doing it, great to know it’s also healing my whiplash! I’ll ck out a chiro. Thanks for sharing%!!

I loced my hair! I'm almost two months in and I've been spending time in this forum reading, reading and reading some more. There is so much information and I have only made it back to posts from 2009 If only most of the pictures and links still worked. Anyway, I'm glad NP is still kickin'.
