Getting Over Shrinkage
I did twists last night and when I took them out awhile ago, they basically stayed shrunk. When stretched my hair is at the bottom of my neck, but now they barely touch my neck at all. Is there anything I can do to stretch them out?
Thank you

Hello again, trueimage.
Other than temporary fixes like braids or twists or banding/threading techniques....you'll have to accept the fact that you have 'shrinky' hair. Many of us on NP have hair just.like.this.
Now you could just wait until you have the length you desire.....then that will give you what you want.
ETA: Some styling products have water in them [which will cause hair to shrink] , so you may want to pay attention to which styling agents to use when you want the appearance of longer hair.Last edited by OHR; 06-19-2012 at 07:29 PM.

^@ the bolded. I meant wait until it grows longer. But you know what?? Even when it's longer it may not act the way you'd want it too...and it's hard to tell at the shorter length what will happen.
re: wet or dry twist outs? Check out the Napptural Styles Workshop for many ideas. Just type in "dry twist out" "wet twist out" using the Search function, and see what will come up.
I'm sorry trueimage, but like with most things in life, you'll just have to try out different techniques on your own first, then you'll find out what works best.

When I was permie I used to use Aveda's Anti-Humectant Pomade on my hair. I haven't used it since becoming a natural but it did work well on my hair.

My hair is down to my armpits at its longest places if I pull on it but most of the time it hovers around my neck or shorter. I've started rocking minitwists recently and I can wrap it like a perm at night to keep it relatively stretched out but that doesn't stretch it out completely. It's just the way of life haha.

I find that my hair shows the most length when I take an old braid/twist-out and plait or twist it dry. My hair is mid back length in the back, and it usually looks about shoulder length when I wear braid/twist-outs from damp hair. When I plait/twist it up dry, after wearing it for a couple days, it falls well below my shoulders.

Re: Getting Over Shrinkage
I noticed that over time my locs shrink more and more... what makes it show your true length other than the blow dryer...
