I recently took out my micro braids that have been in since December. I was dreading combing my hair with so much new growth. I'm going Wed. to have cornrows put in. My hairstylist told me since I am transitioning, to use Aveda's Be Curly Shampoo and Conditioner as well as their Dry Remedy Moisturizing Treatment. She said natural hair craves moisture and those products will provide it.
I have never used Aveda products before, but I found the shampoo, conditioner and the treatment with ease. The only problem was the price. I cost nearly $80 for the three products, and after I purchased them, I seriously thought about taking them back.
I'm glad I never got to return them, (I could never find the time) because my hair feels so good, soft and healthy. Also, I was able to comb it with the conditioner and treatment in it with ease. I've had braids in the past and used whatever shampoo and conditioner I could find (usually Pantene Pro V) and had to wrestle the comb through my hair.
Also, my hair was actually in tiny spirals. My hair grows in a zig-zag pattern and won't really curl like I want it too.
Another benefit from using Aveda products is that everything is natural, no man-made products and chemicals which is nice. I recently developed an allergy to certain chemicals and have a hard time tolerating simple oil in my hair.
Anyway, I'm in love with Aveda and would like to know what other hair washing products do you use?
Thanks,
Sara

When I was loose, I use to use Pantene Relaxed and Natural shampoo and conditioner. It made my hair MUCH softer than regular Pantene. Also, Cream of Nature for dry damaged hair. It didn't really smell that good, but it was the SH**!!! :P Made my hair so, SO soft. When I started locking I stopped using it because I wasn't looking for detangling anymore.
Now I use... SUAVE.. Just plain ol' Suave. I add some veggie glycerin to it and some oil and I'm good to go.

The only shampoo or conditioners that I have used since my transition are Cantu Shea Butter conditioner and VO5. VO5 is okay, but doesn't seem to moisturize my hair. Pantene worked well before my transition, so I may use it again. Cantu is good too.

I use Cream of Nature Shampoo and Aussie Tripple Moisturizing Conditioner...they ARE GREAT! Aussie provides so much moisture for my hair which i need since i co-wash. I only shampoo once a week and co wash every day or every other day. And the prices are petty cheap I found my Creame of Nature at a BSS and my Aussie at Family Dollar for just 3.25.

Suave Humectant conditioner was my holy grail while I was transitioning. I still love it now, but I'm looking for an all natural conditioner that's just as good. I like Trader Joe's Nourish Spa, but it doesn't give me quite as much slip, and I just bought Giovanni's Direct Leave-in and smooth as Silk conditioners. I used those yesterday, but my hair's in mini-braids so I can't tell yet. But I didn't use any castor oil as I usually do to seal in and my roots are so soft and silky today. So the Giovanni may be a keeper.
I'm using the Suaave Humectant and CON (red-label) shampoos right now. But i may be going back to the Chagrin Valley Soaps soon.

I'm a big fan of Chagrin Valley shampoo bars and using VO5 as my conditioner. It moisturizes my hair so beautifully and helps make detangling a breeze.

I like to use HE Hello Hydration Conditioner to ONLY DC with.
If I need to wash my hair, I just use Suave Clarifying shampoo, but recently i bought some V05 clarifying conditioner that I like. Though I still use the Suave shampoo every now and then to get a good clarifying treatment. Those are my staple washing products for the moment.Last Relax.er: Dec 2008/Jan 2009

I've been using Pantene Pro-V for relaxed and natural. I used it today for a co-wash, and my hair came out very soft and it made detangling very easy. So, so far so good. I haven't even used the bottle I had until today, because I was using VO5 for about a month for my co-washes. I don't like VO5. It doesn't moisturize my hair at all. It makes it feel like a film is over the strands, and it seems to make my hair just feel blah. So anyhow, Pantene conditioner is my fave. Great for a transitioner.

I use Dr. Bronner's 18 in 1 cleaner in peppermint, Hemp and Baby mild. I just alternate them. I love Dr. Bronners. For conditioner, I use EVOO then put the Dr. Bronner's right on top of that. I love it!
