Your Natural Hair and SO

My bf just shocked me today. He never really has had much to say about my hair beyond "your hair looks nice" or something like that. Well after I seperated my dreads (medium size to small) he has started showing more interest in my hair, but nothing like today. On the way home from our meeting he started playing in my hair and just became fascinated with it and said (in an awed voice) "It's springy and soft and fuzzy like yarn, but it's hair! and it's natural, and it's cool, and its cute, and I love it, and it's GINGY!!" lol

I loved it how he just started randomly playing in my hair, even though I was trying to drive lol. What has your SO said or done with your hair lately that made you smile?

He started calling me that after I had my hair dyed red-brown a few months ago lol He'll call out "GINGY!" and start laughing but I think it's cute

I wish i had the same experience... my SO is not at all thrilled about me starting my loc journey

he thinks he prefers my loose nappy hair... I say "he thinks" because he has no idea what hes talking about! His thoughts on locs are so stereotypical... In a year or two when I have mature locs I sure hope he appreciates them and is more supportive..

Hang in there. I think he will grow to love them. My dh was not really crazy about me starting to lock. But as they grew, he grew to love them. Now, 3 years in, I had thought about cutting them to make them even. He says they're not supposed to be even and he doesn't want me to cut them.

My husband is loving my locs. He likes to play with them while we are laying in bed. He also likes to wash my hair...he doesn't do a very good job, but he tries

My fiance is Nigerian so he calls my locs "rastas". <---I think that's cute in itself Today I was going through my "I'm cutting my hair cuz it's aggravating me" stage and he says "But honey, your hair is beautiful. I can only wish our children will have your hair. I love it because I love you!" It wasn't a huge statement in words but it meant the world to me considering my state of mind.

while lying in bed after washing my hair. we snuggled and he layed his face really close to my head almost on it and said, " mmmm ur hair is so soft." then proceeded to enjoy the coconut scent. lol. i smiled inside and went to sleep.
